As said countless times Buffalo is getting screwed by trading Domi for 8th overall in a stacked forward class.

That's a hard no from Buffalo... if you wanna do it for next year's 1st with top 10 protection you could get some attention.

A 2nd line center is going to start with the 8th overall. As a sabre fan, if there is no one better than domi available, I'd take this trade. I think most sabres fans would as well.

Vancouver got Jt Miller for a 2020 pick in 2019 and they had the exact same stats..

Miller isn't a center, and miller didn't have a 72 point season at the time of the trade. Domi is one season removed from that.

Domi would cost the 8th overall pick.

Miller took 718 Face-offs this year 2nd on the Canucks so I’m sure he played some games at center. 8th overall will be a good player for us in 2 years, Mojo as 2c would be a better option long term.
Max Domi was on pace for 51 points.
Johansson 41 first time playing center in 8 years. Now Domi is better, but that cost is way too high in my opinion especially giving up Tage Thompson who I think they are high on.

Domi creates offense, just look at is 28 goals of last year, he’s skilled AF and don’t compare him to Mojo lmao

I doubt it starts with 8th overall. Top 10 picks rarely ever get traded. The last two centers to fetch a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft were Derek Stepan in 2017, then Jordan Staal in 2012. Both didn't really turn out great for each team.

It starts with a 2021 conditional first.

And that was the only season he had above 20 goals. He's a good player, but would much rather stick with Rossi / Perfetti / Lundell than a 25 year old on a down year looking for a new contract.

Rossi Perfetti won’t be there at 8, you can say Holtz Lundell Quinn, but is Lundell have the offense Domi have ? I doubt. Holtz is one dimensional player, and he’s a winger. You can’t really miss on Domi, he’ll do at worse 50 points if you put it on 82 games and that’s if he plays with Girgensons and Lazar.

Try more like 5 x $6.5m for Mike Hoffman, He'd stay with Florida for that contract.

count me in on 2021 1st with protection for domi.

our prospect pool is barren. we aren't one player away from being a playoff team. keep the pick and find a center elsewhere (free agency like haula, or a center you can obtain for one of our surplus RHD)

A conditional 2021 1st is not getting you Domi....period! You are not dealing from a position of strength, Montreal does not need to trade Domi, worst case scenario is they sign him to a 1 year deal and move the decision to next off season. I agree that the 8th OA is a little rich for Domi straight up but I do feel that Domi + 2020 2nd(STL) = Buffalo's 2020 1st (8OA)

Domi is a career 55 per 82 player Milker when traded was a career 45 per 82. Vancouver traded a future conditional first, a third and a throw away goalie. Miller also had 4 years remaining on his deal at 5.25 which Domi likely eclipsed by about 1 million AAV. I think the offer I would make is the 2021 first top 10 protected and Thompson for Domi. If push came to shove I would deal 8 o/a for Domi but would need Montreal to send their second and I would not be adding Thompson.

It’s just not realistic Sabres have a horrible prospect pool, limited draft picks. The desperately need a cheap contract that can produce for the 2021-2022 season.

Why? Can you elaborate?

A late 2021 1st + 2021 3rd + a prospect who looks promising but likely won't make the Avs roster anytime soon seems like a solid trade proposal considering that Tatar comes with a reasonable extension.

In terms of fit Tatar is exactly the sort of top 6 forward I'd hope we would add, since he's a good 200ft possession player with good playmaking skills that would be perfect next to two shooters in Burakovsky and Kadri. At $5.25m his AAV and 5 yer term would also be at a manageable level to fit into the roster going forwards.

It seems to me that Buffalo ownership is trying to shed salary no acquire salary, with the franchise losing tens of millions every year, so I think they would prioritize a prospect on an ELC over Max Domi who will be making around 6 million, even at the cost of the teams success

Good point. Adding Domi would make a huge dent in the Pegula's ability to live a lavish lifestyle... tears of joy

Except that they have said they are not a rebuilding team they are looking to win now and want the new GM to continue to add for that. see link

They all said that Jason Botterill job was safe. They don’t know what they are doing. EF doesn’t believe they will get close to the cap.

There is no guarantee 8th overall will turn into anything. Not the season that just ended, the year before that. DOMI will cost the 8th

Domi isn't even playing center anymore because Suzuki took his spot, but anyways

Ryan O'Reilly (both times), Brayden Schenn, Nazem Kadri, Matt Duchene, Paul Statsny, Ryan Kesler, and none of them fetched a top 10 pick. All next years & conditional picks. Domi isn't as good as half of those guys were either.

Well domi was hurt, and even if he doesnt come back to play center, he showed he can. Some of those centers were traded a long long time, as I mentioned, they are not traded often. O'Reilly from buffalo to STL was a horrible trade, not sure if that was a great example. From COL to Buf, they gave up a lot besides the pick, hence why it wasnt a top 10. You have rentals on there, which the value is waaay different on expiring contracts. And you even have Kadri, even though he was moved for a dman with reatain salary. So youre just throwing **** at the wall, most of it, isnt even comparable.
