WTH?!? I've been trying to submit trades for Zadorov for months that you Avs fans won't get all defensive and overprotective about and you give him away fro a 2 and 3 rd? Any team would take that.
This seems really odd. Avs fans are pretty well agreed that a 2nd + 3rd would be fair value for Zadorov, and offer that trade in numerous AGM's on this site. If you offer that more often than not Avs fans will accept it. It's when the offer starts to become 2nd + 4th or when picks drift into 2021 and 2022 that we typically start to decline.

Is he really worth that much? He's like a 7th D in Colorado.
In terms of ice-time he's clearly the #5-6 D (basically tied with Cole). In the past he's also been used in bigger roles in the top 4 regularly too.

Oh yea I think so. He's a hard hitter and sound defensively. Let's put it this way, Leafs, Sens and Habs would have him as #4 dman I think. He's only 7 dman in Col cause theyre friggin stacked on D
The thing with Zadorov that makes him so polarising is that he's amazing at defending in transition 1v1 - like on the level of regularly shutting down McDavid, Pasta, Patrick Kane etc in 1v1 assignments.... but then on the flip side he's pretty bad at following play on the cycle in his own zone. So basically, how a team values him depends entirely on how your coach intends to use him. If he's deployed in 1v1 roles against transition teams he'll look dominant and even throw in some monster hits at the blueline, but if the idea is to simply have him defend on the cycle he's not more than a 3rd pairing guy.
As you said it's also very likely that Zadorov would be higher than a 3rd pairing guy on many teams, but ideally he would be paired with more of an offensive guy who's more switched on in his own zone.
For the record Colorado fans would absolutely love to keep Zadorov as he's a fan favourite and we love his hits and character, but the simple fact is that it's a numbers game and with Byram joining soon it simply makes Zadorov the odd man out.

I don't think the Leafs would have him over Muzzin. Plus his QO is quite high.
Ottawa would probably have him as the 4D but their D isnt very strong. I'm not sure they'd give that much for him considering they need the roster spots for their younger guys and need their picks.
Not sure about Montreal. I think they would be able to get him for their 2nd round pick. Avs need to move him.
Colorado doesn't really "need" to move him. Even with Byram joining we're not going to be 'forced' to trade Zadorov given that we have enough capspace to resign him and keep him around and just roll with 7D.
You're also unlikely to get him for cheap because there will be plenty of interest in him, simply due to the fact that 6'5'' Dmen that can skate and hit as well as Zadorov are extremely difficult to come across.

Maybe not, but Muzzin is older and I think Zadorov can be signed for less than Muzzin's next cap hit. So that's my reasoning.
I'm sorry to say I don't think much of Ott is very strong for the time being.
Zadorov still has 2 more years of team control (since his first season with Colorado was under 40 games so he's only accrued 5 NHL seasons at 25 years old), meaning that he can be re-upped for 1 year by Colorado without walking him straight to UFA. That gives Colorado or a team acquiring him some more leverage in negotiations, which should keep his contract fairly reasonable. His QO is $3.2m and I don't foresee him getting considerably more than that on his next contract; maybe something in the region of $3.5-3.75m in line with Butcher or Myers.
