I don't follow either team, but the package for Domi seems light. He's a year removed from a 72pt season and the offer is a European prospect that produces at a lesser rate in the SHL and a future second rounder. That seems like a no-brainer if I'm Buffalo and an easy decline if I'm Montreal.

that is true, but over his career, Domi has been a 40-54 point player per season. I think this is more where he is at. And the SHL is actually not a high scoring league. But I agree that this is not enough, as I'd expect the Habs to get someone who can help them now, and not two guys who might help them in 3-4 years.

Yeah. Habs are giving Domi away for 2 question marks.

I think you mean 45-72 point player. He's had all of 1 season out of 5 in his career where he's scored at under a 50 point pace. That was 45 points on a terrible Arizona team coming off a broken hand. Even this season where nothing went right for him he was still on pace for 50 points. 50 is the floor for him and he's gotten 72 once, he can do it again.

I’d agree can get more also i don’t think oilers would do it they need a 3c this just makes cap situation tighter to try and resolve that.

I think 50-55 points is what can and should be expected of him. Also, he scored more than 20 goals only once and was also not on pace for a 20 goal season this year.

I thinkt the 72 point season was an outlier. He could still score that many under perfect conditons, but he is not a player who you expect to score so many points based on his past

Sure 72 may be considered an outlier but considering that his floor is 50 points I think it reasonable to assume he could hit 60 a few times in his career. 60 point centerman aren't exactly too common in the NHL and a smart GM doesn't trade those guys away. Even 50 point centerman are a commodity, look at what both Winnipeg and Philly paid for Kevin Hayes who had only hit a 50 point pace once in his career at that point.

Even if he was a 45 pts centerman this offer would still be a joke. Imagine how fast you would decline an offer like Jesse Ylonen and a 2021 2nd for reinhart. But I know you said it's not enough yourself, I'm not ****ting on you I'm just pointing out how bad this is.

Agreed this is too little for Domi. I think Risto or Montour and this years 2nd and next years 2nd and a B prospect. Or 2021 first top 10 protected and Middlestadt is more in the range that would be palatable for the Sabres. More than that and I think they need to set there sights on a different 2C idea.

I don't hate both defenseman but they would be behind Petry and Weber on the right side, I don't see a trade around these two but I guess it wouldn't be so bad since our 2 best RD are aging very fast and one of them may be gone next year even if I'm 80% they will resign Petry. And also, Juulsen and/or Fleury might end up as valuable as Montour or Risto (or a little less valuable but way cheaper for a good amount of time).

As for Mittle and a top 10 protected 1st, the value is probably there but for me, our center depth is already fine and even if Mittle is moved at wing, he's to much of a question mark to take that risk. A 1st is also good but I think we picked enough good talent the last three years and it's now time to add to our young core so trading Domi for future assets is not the way to go.
