Ideal Draft Scenario

Created by: Hockyluv21
Team: 2020-21 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2020
Published: Jul. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto loses the play-in and lottery, Carolina wins the cup, and Carolina gets the 11th overall pick. Marco Rossi somehow falls to number 11 because of #size concerns, but because he's IMO good enough to make the NHL right away, he wins a roster spot in training camp.

I really doubt Rossi would drop to 11th but that would be very good for CAR

Not sure how you resign Svechnikov, Hamilton, a starting goalie, and multiple supporting pieces whose contracts all expire next year -- that is too much $$ to spend on your 3rd pair defense.

To me, he's my #2 prospect in the whole draft. I'm higher on him than even Byfield, and I think he's going to be a superstar in this league. I've just seen time and time again that certain teams pass on small guys for no good reason.

Only if said pieces are untradeable anchors. I don't see either of them as that unless Gardiner craps the bed again.

I love how every outcome for the canes is the leafs lose and have 11th overall smh.

That Florida trade is brutal for Florida. Absolute horrible

There is a better chance of the sky falling then Rossi dropping to 11

Why trade and sign for Weegar if you would consider trading him one year later? And Gardiner does not have much trade value right now - he could be traded, but he also has a NTC to consider.

All I'm saying is why even bother with Weegar when you have cheaper players in Fleury and Bean who could take that spot and then you don't have an extra $4.7m on the cap longterm. Seems like an unnecessary more when your defense already has Pesce, Hamilton, Slavin, Skjei, and Gardiner
