Jarmos moderate Offseason

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades at first glance seem one-sided but each team gets something they need.

Montreal could use some defense. Ryan Murray may have injury issues but he is better than both the players the Jackets receive. The objective of the trade for the Jackets is to get cost controlled depth pieces that could pay dividends.

I didn’t sign Anderson because I think he will be traded just don’t know where or for what.

I think Hoffman is exactly what this team needs. Hoffman scores goals. Jackets need goals 4 years at 6 mil per or maybe slightly north of that is not bad value.

Columbus' need is non roster players? Gotta think that if theyre losing a trade to meet a need that need is at least one on their actual roster.

Any trade Jarmo makes for a core player with value (Murray, Anderson, Nash, Wennberg, Harrington, Kukan, etc.) will definitely include a draft pick or two coming back to Columbus.

I doubt any of these players right now are “core players”. But to be honest the Jackets could take pucks but the Jackets are in a unique position. They have a team that can make or at least challenge for a playoff spot. But they really need to move up to a true contender. To do that they need to be bold but also improve quality depth.

Columbus doesn’t need Hoffman. He’s a scorer, but doesn’t really creat his own offense. We need someone who can create offense for themselves and others. Basically we need a replacement for Panarin, Bjorkstrand is on the way there and hopefully can continue to Improve. Also we don’t need more wings, we need a 2nd line center who creates offense. Basically the reason we traded for Duchene at the 2019 deadline.

We don’t need another ok LHD. We’d rather keep Juulsen, since he’s a RHD, and much cheaper.

Ryan Murray is better and can play both LD and RD.

I beg to differ. We need goals! This teams is one of the worst goal scoring teams in the league. We need goals and Hoffman is a lock to score 30 a season. Sorry severely disagree.

Murray is too expensive and UFA soon, we know Juulsen had bad injuries, but he’s a good kid and we will take our chance on him.

Not sure you see what I’m talking about. Atkinson hit 40 last year with Panarin he couldn’t even get to 20 this year. We have players who can score goals. We need someone to get them the puck. Atkinson and Hoffman don’t create their own offense. Hoffman is on a line of Barkov and Huberdeau in FLA and had Duchene and Stone in Ottawa. Both lines are far better at creating offense for him then almost anyone on Columbus. Columbus has players who can score, sadly those players don’t always create their own offense. Hoffman and Rantanen are 2 of the big names in that category of players who score goals... but don’t create much of their own offense.

Correction on my stats- Atkinson went from 41 goals to 12.... put him with someone who will drive the play and Columbus will score more goals.

Is an option. That being said he’d be too expensive from the trades I’ve seen on here.

I wouldn’t move the 2020 1st. So there’s really no conversation as to what to add. No 1st, 2nd or 3rd for 2 years in a row would crush us. Since 2015 our 1st round picks are Werenski, Foudy and PLD. That would be 3 1st in 6 drafts.... not very good for a bubble team.
