wait a year and buyout neal and then trading russel this year. Saves the most money at the smallest cost. Edmonton would not go for cirelli for that price tag. Would rather edmonton shore up their golatending and wing depth with the money you are using to overpay hoffman and cirelli

Hoffman is a underrated 70 point guy and cirelli gets lots of points and is good defensively!

That's not close for a Neil cap dump. You can say he has 2M in value.

5.75M-2M=3.75M

3.75M x 3 = 11.25M

Toronto paid a 1st to dump 6.25M.

The minimum price to move Neal will be a 1st and a 2nd.

Don’t see Cirelli as a good fit expensive for the role he would be filling. No way going to have 4 centres in top six and then hass as 3c. As for the cap dumps I actually don’t think your as far off as people will suggest. Both those players are still very useful I’m betting it will take a little bit of retaining but can get an asset for neal under the right conditions. Russell definitely doesn’t need any sweetener his cap hit is only high because oilers don’t have enough room to give him the playing time needed to justify. He’s only owed less than half his cap hit that’s a huge selling factor with lost revenues

oilers already have that in nuge. I'd get a cheaper option like kreider instead and then use the cirelli + dell money to get a 1b goalie and a 3C which are major needs

Stop with that comparable it’s very different situation. Toronto paid a first because they had to find a team willing to buy out the contract. Very very different NEAL is a very strong pp guy that could help most teams in the league. Yes he’s over paid but retain 2 million he’s suddenly a decent option for a team.

Kreider was sighed. It was at 6.5 so not a cheaper option even if he was a free agent.

At 4M he still has negative value. Chiasson is a similar player making 2.15M and I don't think he's underpaid.

A lot of people, myself included, think that Neal was only putting up points cause he was with McDavid. Since the first 2 months of the season he has bearly produced.

You guys still have to pay to move him even if you retain 2M (albeit a smaller price) (maybe a 1st with a 4th coming back)

First two months of the season he was on pace for 30 goals before getting hurt. He’s put up 20 goals every other season minus brief stint with flames. Not sure how that level of consistency has anything at all to do with mcdavid. I don’t think 4 million is a worrisome number with his history of consistency and playoff performance.

then I'd find someone else. there are plenty of middle 6 players that can be had for cheaper than 6,000,000 + 1st and 3rd. plus getting an affordable 3C and 1B is more of a priority than getting a 6mil 3rd line centre

Cirelli is better then you give him credit for he is good defensively and puts up his share of points!

not saying he is not good. he is. just not what oilers would be looking for if they were willing to give up that much to aquire a player
