Interesting Jost trade, wonder if it could work. Agree with first comment, Hawks don’t need another elite D

Palat is overpaid at 5.3mil and has a hard time staying healthy

They don’t really have an elite D

Would Colorado accept if the 2nd round pick was lower

I think Mitchell and Beaudin will be good, not elite. Carlsson and Vlasic I see more as bottom parodying dmen. Serg is better than all 4 of those

TBH, maybe leave the picks and retain like 1.25-1.5 mil salary on Palat?

I’d add Carlsson and Vlasic to the Tampa’s trade. They are starved for prospects

I think that if there were retention then the picks would stay, but Tampa isn’t really in a position to retain salary at all tbh, I completely forgot to sign Jost, so tbh it could be another team completely, just palat for a 2nd to a team with a good cap situation l

Idk if Chicago would be willing to do that, but if they would I’m sure Tampa would love one of them

I think that could work with the Ducks. Rather would have a RW instead of Barre

I like Palat, I think he'd be a great fit on our 2nd line as a 2-way playmaker for Kadri and Burakovsky. His contract is fair and the term is also very manageable.

Due to him NTC I envisage that the price would be very reasonable, so a 2021 2nd seems fair. Good trade.

I don't think he's overpaid, more like he has a fair contract. He had a down year in 18/19 but bounced back to his normal self again this season. In his career he averages 54 points per season, which makes his $5.3m salary bang on the money.

As for his injury problems I think they're overblown. He's stayed healthy this entire season too so in terms of current status he seems fine.

Sorry but you aren’t going to change my mind on the injury thing. Between 2015 - 2019 (5 seasons) he missed a total of 78 games (nearly one full season). Failed to play 65+ games in 3 of those 5 seasons...

Fair enough. Do you know the details about his injuries? Are they muscular type injuries, or unlucky ones not relating to fitness?

I would by lying if I said I knew the severity of his past injuries. Will have to do a little research.

Ok quick 5 min research looks like a few upper body and few lower body injuries (nothing specific). He did have a nasty ankle injury in 2018 that put him out 6-8 weeks.

I mean, if he missed like 20 games per season because of getting hit in the wrong place by a stray puck a couple of times, that wouldn't really be something he could control. Whereas if he has chronic back injuries like Ryan Murray then it's a different story.

I think the Bolts will have a tough time getting even a second for Palat. If, and it's a big if, he's willing to waive his trade protection at all, he'll pretty much pick where he wants to go. Tampa will have zero leverage. Active players typically aren't cap nerds either, so he might end up picking St. Louis or something, lol.

All this is to say that in the event they find a place he's willing to go, and that team can afford him, the said team won't be offering anywhere near what he's worth. That's how I see it anyway.

If he wanted to play on a long time contender he’d probably waive to colorado

And Boqvist is better then all of them counting upside. We aren't giving up a ELC first liner on D easily.

Carlsson definitely has 2nd line upside and Vlasic is still an unknown though likely a 3rd liner as you said.

They also dont really need to downgrade Boqvist to Sergachev and take on a cap dump in Killorn

I have no issues with that logic. All I'm saying is that the Avs (in this example) would have all the leverage. They may not have to go as high as a second.

That is probably true, but I think the lowest you could sell palat is for like 2 3rds, and I rly don’t think Tampa fans would be happy w that, although it might come to that
