If you truly require a LHD for your team, you could get Leddy from Isles for a 5th rounder or so...they desperately need to shed cap.

You’re over valuing Brodin (without an extension) and undervaluing Dunn imo

Montreal only needs an upgrade on Mete at most. Mete is only 22, and a bit early to give up on. I would rather roll with Mete, Chiarot, Romanov and hope one or two of Harris, Norlinder or Struble pan out if I am being honest.

I agree with you, step bro, but Mete next season will be his 4th. He needs to finally start showing glimpses of offensive skill (he was supposed to be the J-M Lilles) or I wouldn't protect him from the Seattle draft. Chariot might be older and with less term, but he is just too good to be let go.

These Brodin for Domi deals have become my cure for insomnia.

Habs only need a short term LD. Romanov, Norlinder, Struble and Mete give them more than enough depth for a long time

Guess which one is Chiarot's 19-20 season, (29 years old) and Mete's 18-19 season. (21 years old)

Taken out of context (ya know, that we're a top Cup contender and not a rebuilding team), it's not the worst offer ever seen, but the Blues aren't trading you Dunn.

I would say the second one is Chariot, since "shooting talent above average" can not apply to Mete.

Montreal simply couldn't afford the trade with STL and not only that but the blues wouldn't entertain the offer. 3 million is what the expectation for Dunn is ? if thats the case, then the Blues resign him at that price tag. At the end of the day, Montreal's best forward after everything is done is still Thomas Tatar

Habs don't need to tarde for Dunn. He is RFA. An offer sheet at 4.2M will cost a 2nd round pick 2021 and St-Louis are so stuck with the cap, they wouldn't be able to match.

Well they can surely match and trade for a better return.

3 seasons as a 22 year old defenseman, that should be a compliment.

They can't trade a player if they match an offersheet within 1 year. So for this year, Blues would have to match and trade other cap to make it work.

I totally agree we should recognize about recognizing beeing able to compete at the highest level while still beeing a teenager. (like Kotkaniemi). But if you dont see any progress after 4 years, the player most likely got to his maximum capabilities.

That's a bit much for the Blues, maybe just take Gunnarsson if you want the chep quality NHL LHD and return one of the seconds or Mikkola if you really want the young LHD

yeah the it's not the first good value but makes no sense with the Blues competitive window I've seen here and I mean kudos for assessing trade value? but also if you want this to be realistic you kind of gotta factor in the competitive windows

nothing like burning a bridge, costing yourself another 1M and not getting the goalie you want all so you can make sure you nab a guy you probably don't need for sure and can delay the second round pick by a whopping year

The trade is fine and much more realistic than playing the RFA games, it just doesn't fit with the Blues win now mode.
