Description
Within the next year we are going to need to find a top 4 LD to replace kieth. Some options listed below that I think could help will the spot. Some of the younger guys would obviously be a year or two away from taking over a top 4 role, but guys like dehaan could definetly at least be a stop gap. What should the Hawks do?

Brodin- Probably our best bet if we want a replacement right away for 2020. Strome would have to go back the other way, but Brodin could instatntly take over the top pair

Lindholm- Another good option in my opinion but possibly not worth it because it would cost a lot in a trade to give up for a guy that could walk in 2 years (i probably didn't give enough in my trade proposal for him)

Krug- I think we need to stay away from Krug in free agecny even if we could find a way to afford him

Sanderson- In my opinion our best option if we don't get Brodin. He is probably a year or two away, but he has the top pair shutdown D potential

Beaudan/Carlson- We could just go the route of waiting to see how these guys develop

Other options not mentioned could be Dunn, Sergachev, etc.

Needs to be someone better than Nylander in that Lindholm trade. Guy is a stud.

Huge overpayment for Lindholm imo, I'd rather just draft and develop Sanderson. Trading Mitchell seems like a huge mistake at this point

My (personal) line in the sand would be: Brodin with an extension for Strome and Chicago’s 2020 2nd.

Without extension drop the 2nd?

If you need a third pair LD (or even RD), let me know, John Moore is available.

My bad. I would require Pitt’s 2020 and Chicago’s 2021 2nd rounders. Whether that’s ridiculous or not, these would be my demands.

Lindholm is amazing. True #1 D. Blackhawk fans are hopeful that Mitchell will be our version of Colton Parayko, so that's actually a pretty generous package.

There's no team in the league paying anything close in value to Strome plus 2 2nd's, but then again I guess when they don't you just keep him. Just hope he doesn't walk in FA and hope that you can work a deal for Seattle to not take him

It’s potentially 2 late 2nd rounders so i dont think it’s a ridiculous ask, but either way, i would be happy with the return, or ecstatic if he stayed.

"Hopeful" being the key word.

Mitchell is a good addition to the trade. Nylander is a huge question mark, and the 2021 1st is an even bigger question mark. How much do I want to gamble on that draft? There's a good chance that there's no junior hockey until at least December, and an even better chance that there's none at all. The fact that the talent pool doesn't even come close to this years adds to the dilemma. And then there's a good shot that it ends up being a late 1st, since you've made additions to the team.

So, a late 1st+a questionable prospect+A good prospect. I'd have to say no, it's just too big of a risk.

That's fine and you're right to want to hold onto Lindholm. I just wanted to point out that Mitchell is by no means a throw in and is the main piece of the trade

You aren't getting (2) 2nd rounders plus Strome for Brodin; that's a big overpayment...especially without a extension. Without an extension, there is no way Chicago considers a trade for Brodin. With a extension, it's strome and a 3rd or MAYBE a 2nd. The Wild will not only save cap space with Strome, but have a 23 year old they now own the career rights...meaning...they bridge him and reup his contract again as a RFA. Strome has a fair amount of upside, Brodin is close to reaching his peak in his career.

No way should we trade Mitchell, Nylander and a 1st for 2 years of Lindholm and then he goes to UFA status. Lindholm is a great player, but the Hawks aren't making a cup run next year IMO and therefore this would be a huge mistake. Mitchell is a stud and potentially he could be better then Boqvist.

For sure, I'm just really not sold on Nylander.
