Eriksson is the key to all this

Description
See a lot of people making trades where their team takes in cap dumps from the Canucks like Baertschi/Sutter/beagle/Benn/roussel etc. The main cap dump is Eriksson. If the Canucks get rid of him, they can sign all their important UFAs and RFAs this season. They don’t have interest in attaching 2nd round picks or high end prospects to to players with one year left on their contracts. It’s not worth it for them as they don’t really gain much

Agree fully. Bite ex bullet and pay to shed Louis. You’ll have to shed one of those other guys but no big deal there.

Well, if it was as easy as just removing him from the list, it would have been done already. VAN is going to have to pay something to get rid of the cap hit. The same could be said about the Lou recapture, Sven, Roussel, etc.

It's not as bad as it looks, Edler, Sutter, Pearson, Baertschi, and Spooner all come off the books and if they trade Roussel and Beagle they should have enough space to sign both Petey and Hughes to long term deals

Agreed. Even if they move the Erikkson contract for a first. Next year there are 9 roster spots to fill with around 15 million when you factor in the coverage penalty they will pay for Hughes and Petterson bonuses. They would be in the same position Tampa is in this year but I expect Hughes and Petterson to get more than Sergachev and Cirelli.

Now fill in the other 9 roster spots.

Don't know where you got 9 from but Hoglander, Juolevi, Podkolzin, Lind, MacEwen, Rathbone, and Bailey should all be in

I've done a 2021 with Pettersson at $10, Toffoli and Markstrom at $6, Hughes on a bridge at $5, and Stecher at $3.75 (probably $1 too high), and there isn't a problem even if Eriksson stays; move him and I could replace him with Tanev. This works even with Beagle and Roussel if Ferland goes LTIR; if not, one of those two has to be shifted.

This month I've suggested Eriksson, your 2021 first and either Troy Stecher's rights or Jet Woo for Jacob Larsson or Eriksson and your 2021 second for Vancouver boy Deven Sideroff and Anaheim's 2021 sixth.

Virtually every team has player(s) they want to dump for cap reasons. Almost impossible due to so many team near the cap, or they would prefer to have productive players signed instead of the 6m Ericsson.
Gotta think the Canucks have "lots" of overpriced players, Not necessarily a great amount of $$ per player but those millions add up.

The point of this AGM is just to show that Eriksson is the only contract that needs to be dumped to fit under the salary cap. Obviously the Canucks aren’t getting rid of him for free, but they don’t need to also spend assets to get rid of baertschi, beagle, Sutter, Benn, roused etc. Only Eriksson.

I would do that 2nd trade in a heart beat
