Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know, I know. Too much money for Carl Soderberg. Buffalo usually has to pay a premium to get a free agent to go there and watching Coyotes games last year, this guy was their best two-way forward most of the times I saw them. Maybe he will like the camaraderie of the Swedish players we already have. We also don't make the mistake with Cozens like we did with Mittelstadt and actually give him linemates who are good. I personally want to see Mittelstadt play with Eichel and Olofsson. Like he did at the World Juniors for Team USA, when he's the 3rd best player on a line and can make those creative and unique short passes to players that can fill it up, that's when he's most effective. But here, I put him on the all o-zone/sheltered minutes third line with Cozens and Tage. Let the kids play.

“let the kids play” is a nightmare statement. you want dylan cozens to play with two other players who can’t drive a line? that line will get ripped to absolute shreds every single game. no reason to have tage in the majors to start next season...the kid hasn’t played a hockey game in months after that injury...he needs rochester right now more than casey does. also starting cozens off at center rather than wing is not the smartest of ideas...ease him into it.

Disagree. Centers need to learn how to play Center. The only easing into it he needs is sheltered minutes. They just need to surround him with good players. Mitts and Tage both need to be in the AHL to start

Tage needs to go through waivers. And there probably won’t be an AHL season this year.

id rather take my chances with him on waivers, Im not worried about losing AHL depth just because he was part of the ROR deal

read the “position” section. don’t know if you’re a huge chart and analytics person but there’s some good stuff in here.

the next nhl season is going to be a shorter season and we're not winning the title. i want to see what casey, cozens, and tage can do. tage was ready for the NHL when he got hurt and casey should play wing with good players, in my opinion. cozens could benefit in the AHL just like dylan strome did, but i'd rather see them get some minutes and go through some stuff in the short season.

That's just dumb asset management.

I think if he comes to camp and appears ready you give him 5 - 10 games at the start of the season to prove he is ready. If he's not you either make him your extra skater, expose him to waivers or trade him if you can. We cannot let him flounder for 30 games like we did with Mitts this year.

Im not worried about his production, im not expecting 50-60 points, I want him to learn the position, specifically the defensive responsibilities, especially with Krueger as the coach

You're right the 22 year old who was almost a ppg in the AHL isn't an asset. Big dumb.

ah yes 41 points in 70 AHL games = PPG player. what a Math guy. Every .6 PPG player in the AHL clearly works out to be an NHLer

I don't think 2 years at that price is a bad deal for Soderberg. He's been fairly consistent in shutdown roles as well as putting up solid point totals

He's had 21 points in 24 games in Rochester, and 12 points in 16 games last year. Are you purposely being dumb?
