Here is the problem with trading Severson. The first half of the season was terrible with the whole team struggling with Hynes' system and then he was moved to the left side after Greene was traded and it was obvious he couldn't play the left side. By the end of the season where he was actually played really well with a stay at home defender his reputation took a hit. The other problem is that although the LD is a wasteland we have prospect we believe will take over in Smith and Bahl where on the RD we have absolutely nothing. I don't know if you want to trade a player in a sell low scenario with no one to replace him. The money isn't too bad and he has great term.

A 7th if you keep him.

In many games he looked poor. He is a gifted individual player, but in games he was poor quite a lot this season. I would not like to make such a finanical commitment on him

He and Mermis looked good paired up together.

Severson is actually a pretty valuable trade asset because:

- He's still relatively young
- He's on a very managable caphit
- He has term left on his deal
- He's a defenseman (everyone is looking for d-men)
- He's a RHD (again, everyone is looking for right shot defenseman)
- He's (sadly) our best defenseman

Now, don't get me wrong. It's not that I overly like Severson, I'm well aware of all holes he has in his game. But because of all points above and the fact that we're already very short on defense it'll take a lot for Fitzgerald to consider trading him.

And that's why proposed deals like a one for one with Kapanen or a 1st + some other garbage won't do a deal for us (even when the value of these assets more or less matches the value Severson brings to a team).

Keerfoot johnsson and Dermott for zacha and severson 1m retained.

I don’t see Johnsson as a fit, would be fine with adding a 2nd and an rhd prospect like Duszak Hollowell or Rasanen.

I wouldn't want Kerfoot. He didn't want to be here when NJ drafted him. I wouldn't want to count on him sucking it up and giving 100%.

Completely forgot about that. Yup makes sense. Dermott and a 2nd and an rhd prospect not named liljegren. Would be the most I would do for severson alone 1m retained. Probably better offers out there but his game has holes.

I agree, I made this because he is such a valuable trade piece. Wanted to see the most someone would be willing to give up, and definitely most of the offers for him out there are bad deals for NJ.

Seems like you are looking for a kings ransom. Better to just keep him if you think he is worth that much.
