Would strongly consider that Murray trade if the pick was 2020. More of a heads up but he probably makes >6M on his next deal unless you're bridging him to UFA

The Preds trade is interesting. AA always plays really well against us.

If Pittsburg is serious about trading Murray that's a really good deal.

Even if Kassian were still making $1.9M I'd be upset to see OTT trade for him, but trading for him when he's got a 4 contract worth $12.8M. No thank you...

don't think the penguins take this.
They won't protect jones in the expansion draft. And with no goalie to trade, they probably take him.

You get a guy you can protect, the penguins get a 2nd 2 years from now.
They lose that deal.

Bouchard probably needs another year but I think borberg needs two years but there are some edmonton writers saying he's ready to play in the nhl next season

I don't think it matters though they are both good enough players not to let it bother them.

Broberg is tearing up training camp scrimmages and Holland has confirmed he'll be taken into phase 4 as one of the 10 defenseman - as will Bouchard. Both could get NHL games this summer but neither will start. Holland being Holland of course.

As for projections, I guess it partly depends on what happens this summer, but the reasonable thinking is that Bouchard will start next season in the AHL and will be the 1st call up, while Broberg will be sent back to the SHL for next season (although he'll miss the beginning of Skeleftea's training camp due to the NHL schedule this summer). I don't think we see Broberg in North America full time until 2021-22, and even then he might spend a couple of months in the AHL to adjust to the smaller ice surface.

So moving Jones to get Murray isn't that bad of an idea?

Yup. To be fair, this isn't your typical training camp with a bunch of juniors, AHLers and tweeners. Broberg is dominant against real NHL players - that's significant. But I still think he goes back to SHL for another year once the Oilers season is over.

Why would Edmonton want to spend $10+M on goaltenders? They simply don't have the cap space. And Murray had a terrible year - only 1 of the past 3 has been above average.

No, the trade is a nonstarter.
