Obviously some retention, Leafs can’t take his full cap. Probably a third or second

I would say retain 50% for a 2nd and 3rd

I would expect either 2 3rds or Holl and a 3rd would have to go back. At most a 2nd is what i would see them paying and retention would be required. Savard is very good in his own end and is an excellent puck mover. I feel he is the ideal partner for Rielly, and would fit well with the leafs.

Leafs should target Nutivaara instead. Plays right side. Id have to think Columbus is going to try and make a run again next year with Murray and Savard on expiring deals. Both good players that will probably cost more than a 2nd or 3rd, if I had to guess

Um. No. Not even slightly close. Savard's closest comparable is Muzzin, and Muzzin cost quite a bit more than that.

I wouldn't object per se, but Nuti isn't the defensive-first guy that I understood to be what Toronto needs.

What exactly are you saying no to? Because the Leafs literally cannot take Savard’s full cap hit

Agree with Nutivaara

Then they'd have to pay extra. Muzzin cost a 1st and two depth prospects. If we have to retain, improve the quality on one of those prospects. No LDs permitted, by the way.

Kerfoot and Holl for Savard and Anderson.... that’s about as close as you’d get to being fair for both teams.

...and I'm not sure I'd go for it. I like Holl, but I don't like him that much.

Holl is younger and would easily replace Savard with torts as his coach. Though I’m also really high on Holl. Kerfoot on the other hand... meh.

Yeah; I'm not as big of a fan of the guy, and I believe more in an Andy bounceback.

EDIT: Also, "younger"? They're all of a year apart. That's not exactly a compelling difference.

I figured when everyone said savard was worth picks like 2nd's and 3rd's it was too good to be true lol, 2nd pair RHD's are usually worth some quality, add in retention with the way the cap is and you need to pay for that luxury. thanks for the good insight here

More CapFriendly silliness that a RHD and only a RHD is so important to the Leafs, Certainly the Leafs aren't trading their best and cost efficient RHD Holl in any trade.
If RHD are so important, why would Columbus trade Savard?

We'd overwhelmingly prefer to keep him, but it's possible we won't be able to. That's literally the only reason.
