LTIR is for AHL guys who will likely fill in for injuries at some point

Note: Byram and Kaut's ELCs will both slide for the 2019-2020 season and will therefore expire in the 2023 offseason (they should be listed as RFA-2 instead of RFA-1)

I see NJ as a prime destination for Zadorov. Think that might work.

yup that would work too. As long as its an eastern conference team and we get at least a mid 2nd round pick then im ok with it

You've done a great job here, nice.

I would hope for a 2nd + 3rd for Zadorov and Jost, but I'll admit that that might be on the optimistic side, and your trades are probably more realistic.

Presumably you're banking on Landeskog taking a team-friendly deal, but I don't think he does that if he only gets 6 year term. At 6 years we're probably looking at close to $8.5m.

I'm fond of the idea of using the "UFA-loophole" to ensure that we can keep both our goalies out of Seattle's hands. smile

looking back I was probably a bit optimistic on the Landeskog deal - Ill update to 7 years x 8M which I think is a more fair middle ground. At this point the cap may have risen by 1M anyway, but if not then they could probably have a small performance bonus overage for 22-23 since Rakell and Kadri both come off the books and there are no big signings needed that offseason.

Leaving Grubauer exposed is kinda risky but as we get closer to the expansion draft I think we may get some more insight into the Avs future goalie situation. By then Francouz may be looking more like a starter than a backup/timeshare and worst case scenario we could be looking at a Francouz/Annunen tandem even if Grubauer walks.

Good point with the overage for 2022/23, that could certainly be a factor.

Leaving Grubauer exposed in UFA would indeed be risky, but Sakic has proved to be a shrewd negotiator and excellent at using loopholes and capspace to his advantage so I'm sure he'll find a good way around that situation if needed.

Only thing I’ll nitpick is the Makar contract, they are going to want to do 8x9.5-10 the percentage of cap hit will drop in those last years to make it very tolerable I would think.

Yeah I agree Sakic will probably want max term, may have to make another move to fit that though, unless the cap rises a bit in 21-22. I think we will have a better estimate for Makar after Pietrangelo and eventually Dahlin, Hughes and Heiskanen sign.

It looks good, im a little worried about what happens the year after with Kaut and Byram coming off ELC's. Timmins contract might be low too, if it's not i don't see a contract like that being longer than 1 year for a guy we are hoping to stay in our top 4 long term. i think we're looking at losing either kadri or rakell for cap reasons which if we haven't won a cup in these past two i think might need to happen since something wouldn't be working.

Their ELCs will slide a year and expire in the 2023 offseason. It will probably be a tight squeeze to fit under the cap that year if the cap doesn't go up, but there are lots of players coming off the books so I think they could make it work. I tried to make most depth player contract expire that offseason so we would be able to make changes if needed. EJ, Graves, and Namestnikov's deals expire to clear cap (as well as Rakell and Kadri the year before - we probably wouldn't be able to sign both)

Forgot you had mentioned those sliding in the description. Depending on how Newhook and Bowers look they both might be able to slide up one spot that year and we can let kadri go if the cap is too tight.
