If Savard is coming with an extension hes worth more then a depth forward and a low second and a mid 3rd.

Look at the Muzzin trade. That is your guidepost for a Savard trade. Please stop trying to shortchange us.

What if it was Johnsson, 2nd, 3rd for Savard 50% retained plus extension?

See: "Examples Of Players The Blue Jackets Neither Want Nor Need". You'll find a familiar name at #4LW.

No.... Holl and at least a 2nd has to be part of the trade. If there’s an extension it’ll have to be a 1st.

You dont move from a 2nd to a 1st for him agreeing to an extension with the new team.

If it helps, I'd consider that the payment for retaining on his contract.

Think of it this way. Muzzin got a 1st and two "b" prospects. Savard would be getting a roster blueliner (Holl) and a 2nd - reduced value of the pick in exchange for a roster player instead of prospects. Muzzin had no retention on his deal. If there's retention in the Savard deal, then that costs extra.

Savard isnt a very good Muzzin comparable. He doesn't have the underlying numbers nor the pedigree. His value isnt there.

On CapFriendly any RHD in the league is better than any Leaf Dman.

Good luck getting that kind of value from anyone for Savard. He is a good 2nd pairing defense, so I don't see CBJ retaining. I don't think the OP's trade is enough, but I can't see any situation where CBJ gets a 1st. Just my opinion.

Fair to me would be a b prospect like Korshkov or Woll (not sure about CBJ's goalie prospects) + [a 2nd or combination of 3rd + another b prospect (Hollowel or Abruzzese)]. One thing the Leafs have is a system chalk full of young forwards that will need a shot in the show within the next 1-3 years, otherwise they should be looking at using them as currency to improve deficient areas on their roster.

AJ isn't a fit in Minnesota. Wild already have the market cornered on left shot wings.
