TJ has Full NTC till 2021-22
YG has Full NTC till 2022-23

Neither are waiving to join one of the 7/31 teams not to be in this years 24 teams playoff .
OTT and BUF are not teams that guys on top contenders waive their NTC for

I think we can get a higher 2nd for Jost than our own 2nd back which will (hopefully) be in the early 60's. A pick that late rarely ever amounts to an NHL player so I'd rather just keep Jost if this is the return. Jost will be really cheap to keep around and provides good depth and versatility and can help this team win right now which is more than can be said for those picks which if we're lucky might amount to a player like Jost...

MTL would give you a higher 2nd but overall Jost isnt worth much more outside maybe a very late 1st to a conference final team

Jost to me is a guy COL trades in a bigger package as the small piece or with a high 2nd accompanied by a similar player like Jake Evans(Similar style from AHL points leader in Laval the past 2 years and had good call up outings but is a clear cut bottom 6 guy at the NHL level and nothing more )

By a higher 2nd are you referring to one of the Montreal and Chicago picks (#39/40)? If so I'd be inclined to accept that if you also add a late 3rd or early 4th.

I agree that the best way to get value from Jost in a trade is probably in a package trade. Something like Jost + pick for Josh Anderson or something to that effect.

The fact that he's (at least) a versatile and defensively reliable 3rd liner at what will likely be a <$2m caphit makes him an interesting player for teams with cap issues. I could see teams like NYI, Pittsburgh, Chicago, SJ, or Tampa being interested for example.

I sorta feel the same way, that we could get just one trade piece back for higher value.
That being said, even if the return was still just a late first or early second round pick, Id still rather hold onto Jost

If the offer is a late 1st for Jost you'd have to take that, especially if it's in this years draft which is very deep. It's just bad asset management to pass that sort of pick up for a player that realistically is going to be a depth forward for us after we add a top 6 forward this offseason.
