Nucks would rather keep Beegle than lose JV for that

+ Virtanen can make more money.

I can see him signing for this if he stays with Vanc

I dunno, that's a pretty nice 6mil off the cap. Would go a long way to keeping the current core intact.

Also, MacEwan seems to be outplaying him in training camp so that's something to look into, and in a year Podkolzin will be with the team on the right side. It looks like Virtanen's window to prove himself is shrinking unless he steps up his mental game

Gonna cost you more. Could be Roussel instead of Beagle, since they are on the same contract.

@GlenMetropolit

You kinda stole my idea, see in the comments a week ago:
https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/342386

Let say I totaly agree that's a deal working for both side smile

But is keeping him even an option? With the flat cap, VAN needs to move a lot of caphit quickly (or loose Tanev and Markstrom) and there isn’t a lot of teams who will be willing to take it. Like @GlenMetropolit said, based on the Armia deal, value is on point.

The difference is, Virtanen has much more value than Armia did. If it was Eriksson they’d consider. Not beegle though

Holy crap this is bad. Virtanen is a healthy scratch right now, not to mention his attitude issues.

absolutely not lol. Nucks would rather just buyout Erickson than do that. After this season he only has 2 years left and is owed 8 million dollars. if they move him after paying the signing bonus, hes owed only 5 million. its not going to cost an arm and a leg to move him.

Beagle for the Winnipeg fourth is about right. I doubt that Vancouver wants to give up on Virtanen just yet.

The problem isn’t the money, it's the capspace.

Since I dont see enough Nucks games to judge his talent myself, allow me to submit you a good read explaining why Virtanen hype is dead:

"much of Virtanen’s lost value is on the defensive side. His defensive game is bad enough that it nearly outweighs all the positives, including his power-play offence and ability to draw penalties. Virtanen’s hockey sense has been in question since his draft year, and it’s still fair to question it six years later."

I never denied the fact that Canucks could trade Virtanen. Its entirely possible. Power forwards usually also take longer to develop so as you can see based on his career, hes improved exponentially every year. theres still room to grow with Virtanen and other teams would bite at that. A team with a lot of cap space may be interested in taking him, along with Eriksson, because as I said, Eriksson doesn't have much "real" money left on his deal, and they'd get a good young player with Virtanen.

Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha
Zadina-Rossi-Virtanen

could be a great top 6 for years, for example.

Beagle is 3mil. Virtanen likely resigns for about 3mil. 3 + 3 = 6

Trading away both takes a total of 6mil off the books, cap dump or not, that's some good space that could go into resigning Toffoli & Marky

or they ship Virtanen with eriksson, which takes 9 mill off the books. thats a better value

Absolutely, but I'd say Virtanen isn't enough alone. Sure, Loui doesn't have a lot of real money left on his contract, but unless you're the Sens and are stuck with cheapskate management I'm not sure if that's as much of a draw as most think. It's all about the cap hit, and teams know the Canucks are in tough so they'll play hardball and stick out for as much as they can get

Real money or not a cap hit is a cap hit. The Leafs set the price, 6.25 m= a 1st. Louis is two more years, that's multiple 1sts, add a flat cap and boom Boeser. Only 2 teams care about real money vs flat cap right now, Ottawa and Detroit and only 1 of those has owner approval for a high budget, so good luck trying to negotiate with a small number of people willing to take the contract.

If the cap was increasing then you have leaverage, it means the cap floor increases and teams need to meet it. Now, same cap floor, bunch of teams under pressure, bend them the **** over
