I'm not opposed to moving Demko to get cap space, but if he is traded it should be to get rid of the worst contract on the team, Loui.

I think that might get you one of their other 2nds but not 32 overall.

Maybe make it Demko and Roussell for the Capitals 2nd.

That way Voncouver saves cap for the year after next when they need money to sign Hughes and Petterson and Detroit gets to keep their top 50 pick.

That’s a pass from Det. Demko is not worth the 32nd OA pick when Det is no where near being out of rebuild mode. Also, the market is soon to be pretty rich with Goalies, Det can just pick another up through FA. Van is probably going to lose Demko to Seattle anyways so y’all might as well trade low on him.

Detroit laugh Baertschi if anything lowers Demko's value, And Demko isn't worth close to a late 1st round pick.

i don't see anyone taking the Loui contract. Unless Vacouver gives up assets or picks, which i don't see Vancouver doing.

i would think Demko is worth a second and a prospect. So instead of a prospect the throw Baer to the Wings. Eklund has the Wings high on the Wings so they might pay high?

Detroit could build around Demko instead of overpaying a FA.

Det has $40+ million in cap space and only 3 real RFAs to sign, they can afford to overpay a stop gap goalie for a few years.
I’m not arguing that Demko is bad or anything. You’re right in that he could step in a be Det starter or 1B for the next 6-8 years. I’m arguing that he’s not worth the 32nd pick. If he was, then all of y’all Van AGMs would be resigning him and losing Markstrom instead. Besides, that pick is way too important for Det.
I’ll counter your trade with this:
Eriksson/Demko/2021 Van 2nd rd pick to Det for Det 2021 4th rd pick

you kidding?? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

The reason us Canucks fans have such an attachment to Markstrom over Demko is because the team has groomed him for years and he's finally become the goalie everyone thought he would be. Not saying his play is sustainable seeing that he's 30, but given that the team has traded their 1st rd pick this year, and if they want to get rid of Loui they'll likely have to trade next year's as well, Markstrom gives them the best chance of finishing high and not losing out on a lottery pick
