Description
If management can convince Petey & Hughes to take bridge deals it will go a long way to helping the team get out from under a couple of awful contracts as well as navigate the flat cap. GMJB will still have to do some wheeling & dealing with Loui, but I think the trade below is more than enough to oust his contract

Red Wings accept. What most Wings fans have been asking for is Demko+2nd to take on Eriksson contract so you could even take out Virtanen if you took out the 3rd going back

I'm a Wing's Fan and that is and I'm saying that is an overpay.

How about getting rid of the 2nd.. so it's Demko, Virtanen, Eriksson for a 3rd. So it's essentially Demko to get rid of Eriksson, and Virtanen fora 3rd That more even?

Canucks need cap space and Eriksson alone isn't enough, I have no problem getting rid of Virtanen as long as it's fair

Take out Virtanen and the 3rd, Change the second to 2022 and OS Cernak instead

Why not find new homes for Roussel and Beagle instead of Eriksson? Gotta think it'd be easier and less costly to find takers for those two.

I would prefer to lock up our two franchise players to long term deals (8 years ideally). I'd work to get rid of Roussel and/or Beagle to make space for the extra 4M-6M that would be needed.

I think that defense looks pretty weak unless you're expecting Rathbone to be Hughes out the gate. Re-signing Edler should almost be a certainty to not ice an AHL defense, which requires a bit more cap space. The easiest way to do this would be to not re-sign Pearson/Toffoli and put that money into the blue line.

Trade ideas are good. I wonder if Tampa would take that deal considering they are also short on RHD. I would think they move some forwards and keep their defensemen. As others have said, the Detroit trade is an overpay. Demko + a pick should be good enough to get rid of Eriksson. Maybe we keep Virtanen or move him for a defenseman.

Yeah I'd take that but just not sure many Canucks fans would agree. Take out Virtanen and the 2nd. Vancouver fans are good but not many Detroit fans won't be. Detroit could use a LD prospect and I'm not sure how Vancouver values them. Take out the 2nd and replace Virtanen with a good LD prospect. But I have no idea.

I don't think that package gets you Cernak.

The Eriksson trade is really good thinking. Contrary to the other commenters, I think that's what it would take. I've been trying all this month to work deals for Eriksson and this one is better than any I've come up with. Really nice job!!

An offersheet would likely cause the Canucks to have to pay more for him to make sure Tampa doesn't match. This way they can sign him for cheap and TB gets more than a 2nd

Thanks! I would hate to lose Jake & Demko, but it would be worse losing Petey or Hughes due to no cap space!

Cernak can sign an offer sheet up to 4.2mil and Tampa will only get a 2nd rd pick. Perhaps I value Lind more because I'm a Canucks fan, but what would be a fair offer?

You'll never lose either of those two stars -- no GM would allow that. The danger is losing Tanner Pearson.

I think Jett Woo plus your 2021 second would be the least the Lightning would accept. You still might have to add Lind or Jasek.

I think Pearson is gone unless Benning is able to move out a TON of money. He's 28, was on pace to crush all his previous bests (G-A-Pts), and is making 3.75mil. If he scores at the same rate as Horvat then whats stopping him from asking for 5+mil.

If that's what it'll take for Cernak I'd rather the Canucks offer sheet him and only give up a 2nd
