Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2020
Published: Jul. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Trade Ristolainen to fill one of the two holes up top
- Eichel and Olofsson together with another pickup through free agency or trade can produce points
- Skinner and Reinhart with a pickup through free agency or trade can produce points
-Kahun and Johannson can help Cozens and backup Cozens as he gets use to the NHL
- LOG line did well last year for being a fourth line and hopefully can do it again
- If Sabres can't find fair trade for Montour keep him, sign him to a 4x4 contract and then let him go to Seattle which will hopefully give one more year for Borgen and Bryson to develop and be ready for the transition
- Would like to keep the 8th overall pick to get a prospect which we need time for LOG line and Johansson to move on after next season
- Need Mittelstadt and Thompson to do some major offseason training in long offseasona and start in Rochester. If not trade them and we will have 8th overall prospect to develop

It’s unpopular, but you can put Johan Larsson in the 2nd line center spot.

that’s definitely not ideal. he’s not the secondary scoring machine the sabres need in the 2C role. fourth line shutdown is such a perfect role for larry.

It won’t happen because he’s not going to resign, even though him and Jeff Skinner when they were playing together had a excepted goal of 54 percent. Which is really good.

Adam Henrique, Jacob Larsson and our 2020 third for Henri Jokiharju and your 2020 second. That way, you get to keep Montour, Ristolainen and Miller, all of whom you Sabres guys say are first class if not world class.

I still think that persuading Erik Haula to sign with you for three years is your best move.

We would take Henrique for our 2021 first top 10 protected. You guys can keep Larsson we can just play Bryson there

I would actually do that if it was top three protected.

Ideally we swing a trade with Anaheim and acquire Henrique/Silfverberg or both. Could see us going after Ghost to fill in at LHD and for RW I think we are best getting a UFA or acquiring a guy like Kapanen, Virtanen etc

Bozak and Gunnarsson. Neither are super sexy additions, but can fill those positions and be available at a reasonable price.

I'm really starting to believe that thompson and Mittelstadt will be with buf this year. I hope they still target a 2c and I think they will but that's it they aren't making more than one move imo.
So I think lines will look like
    Skinner eichel cozens
    Olofsson 2c reinhart
    Kahun Mitts Johansson
Thompson Larsson( or 4c signee) okposo

No dice maybe top 7 but with the Sabres recent history we cannot afford to give up 5 or 6 o/a for Henrique. If Jack gets hurt and ml isses any significant time we are picking right around there.
