That’s not going to get you Fabbri. We also aren’t shopping him as he can play center and our center depth is AHL level after Larkin.

Fabbri is our 2C at the moment so we won’t trade him unless we’re getting a player of similar value in return. No point for us trading quality for quantity.

Fabbri and Kassian had very similar seasons but since Fabbri is about 5 years younger than Kassian, I think Detroit declines.

Besides the comments already made that’s a hell of a package for Murray that’s coming off a down year.

Why would Detroit trade Fabbri for a position we don't need in RD? How many time need we say that we're set at RD for the foreseeable future. Fabbri is worth more then Benning so we easily decline.

Fabbri took 66 faceoffs in 52 games this year. He won just 39.4% of them.

He's not a center.

Also, a quick look at Fabbri's on-ice defensive metrics show him to be much worse defensively than Athanasiou, which I didn't think was possible.

No interest in Fabbri from Edmonton's perspective, especially at that price. Benning and Kassian actually contribute positively to the team.

Won’t know until he tries. He played center through junior so it’s worth a shot.

Nothing meaningful happens from a sample size of 66 face offs. He played center his entire time in junior and worst case if he sucks we switch back to center. It’s not like Detroit is a contender.

The goalie swap is ridiculous tripe. Koskinen is coming off a year where he posted the 6th best save percentage of the 30 goalies who played in at least 35 games, while Murray was 27th.

Yup, let's trade a whole bunch of assets for a worse goalie, give him a big contract and then give away our best goalie for a mere 3rd. D'oh!

Lots of guys played center in junior. It means nothing. And my point was more about the quantity of faceoffs - he clearly didn't play center this year, that's because he isn't one.

You were right to say that Detroit's center depth after Larkin was AHL level, what you missed is that Fabbri wasn't good enough to displace any of those guys.

He's not a center, he's terrible defensively and the Oilers aren't interested.

DRW FO has publicly stated they’re going to try him at center. No one ever mentioned he was a center last year but rather we are going to try him there and he was one in junior (so he’d be a 2/3C barring no other moves). He’s also missed time from injuries and I doubt our FO wanted to rush him to center especially when Yzerman said this was a throw away season. Never said the Oilers would be interested (OP isn’t a DRW fan) but it sure as hell would cost more than Kassian and Benning. I don’t want Kassian anywhere near the DRW locker room.

What’s wrong with kass? Oilers wouldn’t consider the deal but why wouldn’t you want him near dressing room? I’ve heard absolutely nothing but positives about his presence in Edmonton and the players also organization loves having him. Don’t really like when people say stuff like that gives a player a bad rep based on absolutely no facts

And Taylor Hall was traded for Adam Larsson...

Not saying Fabbri is amazing or anything, I’m just saying that he plays a much larger role on the Red Wings than he would on the Oilers and we aren’t getting any futures back so this trade really makes no sense for us.

He played Center in juniors which is his natural position and Detroit’s going to give him a shot next year. Not saying it will work out but he’ll have a chance. Also, 66 face offs is a very small sample size.

I also don’t think it would make sense for Edmonton since they just got AA who is similar to Fabbri in the sense that they both suck at defence.

If Edmonton is happy with their guys and we’re happy with our guy than there’s no point arguing further.

I highly doubt me stating that gives him a bad rap. Last year alone off the top of my head he kicked Cernak in the chest, the hit on Tanev when he was down, and manhandling Tkachuk who wasn’t even fighting back (questionable based on history). I just want guys near my youngsters that can control their emotions a little better. I’m probably spoiled because growing up watching Detroit have guys like Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Hank as role models on and off the ice. That’s probably why I have preference towards ‘finesse’ puck possession players.

I can’t defend the kick that I’m pretty sure didn’t sit right with any oilers fan. Definitely deserved a bigger suspension for that will 100% agree was wrong. The Tkachuk beating was actually very well deserved and proud of him for doing so he actually showed a lot of control in that case it was after the third attempt of a cheap shot before he had enough and did something about it. Has done very good protecting himself and others on the team.

The Tkachuk thing was the refs fault for letting him get away with charging time and again.

That’s definitely the instance I think comes to most with Kassian is the Tkachuk since the media covered it like a pay per view UFC fight. I think I’d probably take Kassian back on the situation if Tkachuk actually fought him but he got rushed by Kassian after an EDM player hit him if I recall correctly. I’m also probably a little biased with throwing individuals to the ice since that’s what took Mantha out this year.

Agreed. Charging and aiming high on that last one. I was personally very proud of kass for unleashing and sending that message.
