Pretty confident he'll would be a great top4 D, we've seen him there in the past years when one of 33/73/47/25 were injured and not saying he would be a regular on the top pair but he could. Just need to get that opportunity. On a long-term deal, if I'm Grzelcyk, I'm not taking less than $4,5M, worst-case $4,25M. Maybe not $5M right now but close imo.

On the other hand, Bruins can try to use that (limited role) to their advantage during negotiations.

I do agree with you on his role and I imagine it will be expanded. And on a long term deal I agree with you that it can get up in that 4.25-5 range that’s probably want you meant and I didn’t read it clearly enough. I just think if 73 last off-season gets 3 years under 5 then Gryz on a 3 year can’t get more than him. Particularly with the cap going flat. But if we’re talking long term that’s a different story. I’m with you that if he got Krug like time his numbers would look a lot different.

McAvoy was also a 10.2c RFA so he didn't have much leverage. That and maybe he took a little discount, we don't know. Grzelcyk has already signed his bridge deal and has three full seasons under the belt so there's that. But I get what you're saying with " if 73 last off-season gets 3 years under 5 then Gryz on a 3 year can’t get more than him ", it makes sense.

Studnika is projected to be a 3C maybe a 2C at best not an elite #1C LMFAO. Boston blinders at its finest. And Carlo isn’t a “dominant shut down D looool”. He’s very good, but he’s far from one of the best at his role.

Take a drink.

where did I once say hes a throw in? I said he doesn't project to be a 1C like some Boston fans suggest. He will probably be in the 50-60 point TWF 2C range.

Great point on RFA status, that didn’t run through my mind. I agree with you. He’s an interesting contract regardless and like I said I’m most likely in the minority. He’s a guy who’s point totals obviously don’t tell the whole story And he would probably have a big jump in those numbers if he has PP1 time. I think we can agree that he’s an important piece that should get done especially if Krug can’t get done

There are a lot of D’s better in their own zone like Petro, Parayko, Hedman, Josi, McAvoy, Slavin, hedman, etc... and I’m just naming the big names. Guys like Muzzin, Petry, Dumo, Brodin, etc are better in their own zone too. Carlo is a good top 4 D. There’s no knock at that. But you can’t sit here and say he’s one of the “best defenders” in the league.

I don't see him any more than a very solid #3. Very good and reliable in his own zone. Decent puck mover. Is good for about 25-30 points a season. Skating is not bad. Decent north south but agility and ability to change gears is kinda lackluster. I think he can be a very similar guy to Muzzin. Better puck mover and skater but not as physical and territorial

#1- Studnika is projected to be a #2C or at worst #3C. Not a #1C. Haven’t seen one scouting report saying that other than Boston fans on this website. And I like studnika. He’s a hometown kid and played on a team with one of my friends. I hope he has a good career but I’m just being realistic

#2- Carlo is not a dominant D lol. He’s a top 4 D. Again, very good, but he’s not a “dominant shutdown force” on the ice
