Description
Some Pens fans have suggested that the team should look to sign another Brandon Tanev style player. In this year's free agency, the most comparable player that comes to mind is Jesper Fast. A player that grinds and is solid defensively.

      But Sid.
if Sid isn't comfortable with a slow grinder on his line that's his preference. I get he's a bit overpaid especially for a 3rd line role but no one complained when HBK did their thing with Kessel's $6.8M on the 3rd line.
12-19-72 has the potential to some really nice things this playoffs and __-19-72 (insert one of FA signing, Erod, Simon, Lafferty) next year will be fine and definitely better than Thornton. Hornqvist playing 15 min a night and PP is fine. he's injury prone and gets beat up....he doesn't need more chance to be injured. he needs to be fresh.

Well, if Hornqvist can make noise playing on the third line, then I’m all for it. It’s just, based on past results he has always found his most success playing on a line w/Sid & Jake. I feel that if Sheary underwhelms this playoffs (very likely), Sully is going to replace him w/Horny like he’s always done.

it's not about who makes what on what line. It's about can they win.
And the easiest way to slow down the Crosby or Malkin line is to put Hornqvist on the wing.

No need to shoot themselves. He goes on the 3rd line which is really the 4th line as the 4th line is really the 3rd at this point.

I honestly think the penguins should play with that mentality. Put McCann on the top line with Jake and Sid.
Throw together the 4th line that will play but a handful on minutes a night and be done with it.

I like the idea of putting McCann with Sid & Jake. That will leave a fourth line of Sheary-Erod-Horny which they will shelter along with JJ.

No interest, he’ll make more than he should on a different team. Horny is a fine 3RW and they have a ton of options for the fourth line. Crosby’s right is really the only spot open, and Simon/Sheary are fine stopgaps until a better option appears
