Petan is not an NHL player, and Ottawa has better players than him who will be in Belleville next year. Andreas Johnsson's contract is bad. He's overpaid, has bonuses, and a MNTC in his final year. What the hell was Dubas thinking when he agreed to all of that for a bottom 6 player?! Ottawa says NO.

He sure the hell won’t for that kind of money... with Babs gone I don’t think he would resist too hard. Would cost more money and just not a position we lack.

Agreed if he was good why trade him for a 7th.

He was on a 43 point pace this year, he could get 2.5-3

Johnsson is not overpaid at all. That’s a horrible take for a top 6 winger on the leafs..

Johnsson would already have 6m paid on his 13.6m contract. Meaning actual money owed would be 7.6m on the remaining 3 years. Averaging out to 2.54m.

I don’t see why ottawa would be interested though. Doesn’t really fit their rebuild.

Agree completely, he’s a good player with a great attitude and work ethic.

I think he would be a good addition in Buffalo.

He would be a perfect fit... but first you need a 2c...leivo doesn’t drive play. He will go into dirty places and he has a wicked wrist er. He’s like a right handed olofsson with a heavier body.

Why not? The coach who wouldn't play him is gone and the GM who fulfilled his promise to find him a team that would play him is still there?
Not that i think there is a great fit or the leafs would offer competitive money, but if they wanted him back hed considered it for sure

Yes, he is an NHL player, he is just a casualty of Mike babcock's weird hatred towards random players and the Leafs insane winger depth

No. My take isn't horrible, but you're entirely entitled to your opinion. For me, a 24 year old selected in the 7th round, an RFA with NO arbitration rights and just ONE good NHL season under his belt (while lining up with elite talent) shouldn't be able to bully his way into getting more than half his salary in bonuses and ANY kind of MNTC in his next contract. This is pure Dubas.

With arbitration rights, who signed their QO the year before to prove themselves after a call up season. He didn’t have to bully his way into anything. The leafs are more than happy to pay out signing bonuses and put money upfront.

In the future it makes them a better trade asset for teams with less money.

And really a 10 team no trade clause in the last year of the deal?

He might be worth tha but I wouldn't even give the Sens 3rd for him. The Sens have enough middle 6 forwards and Johnsson's contract doesn't fit with their contention period.

A guy I'd take from the Sens perspective is Engvall for a 4th.

Why not? He left the team on pretty good terms and the coach that didn’t play him is gone. If kapanen gets moved I could see him signing with the leafs on a cheap short term deal
