As a Flyers fan, I see JVR as a good fit. He would bring some finish to that line and played an underrated two-way game. (He's not going to win the Selke anytime soon but he was far from a liability.)

And it fills needs for you guys, a young replacement at LW, and a 3RD thats cheaper than anything that braun would ask for

The Brodin trade is brutal for the Wild.

The devils aren't trading 11th overall or better (assuming they lose)

Think so? I kinda like it: just replace Mcleod with Nick Merkley or Ty Smith.

I would do merkley instead though I don't see why you prefer him over McLeod

It is so underrated that the Flyers dropped him to under 15 mins a night? After the gamble on Subban to bounce failing I don't think it makes sense to trade for another player that might be regressing. He still has 3 years left at 7 million; add that to Subban's/ Schneider's contract and you have $22,000,000 for 2 years. Rather just take on a cap dump like Alzner or Eriksson and not lose any assets.

You have the cap space for both tbh

McLeod isn't anything interesting and the Vancouver pick could be kinda late.

I like that trade better, but really the kind of move you do in a rebuild Wild want except a rebuild as you know so it doesn't help them win now IMO.

When you are competing with Giroux and Lindblom for playing time, that's always going to be impacted. Look at the usage this year, he wasn't deployed heavily in the O-zone and still produced decent raw numbers (19g/40pts in 66 games) skating <15mins a night. His goals/60 sandwiches right in between Kyle Connor and Leon Draisaitl. Note: I am not saying id rather have JVR than either of those two or that he is as good as either of those two, but he still scores.

I stick to my original statement that he would bring some finish to that line and played a better two-way game than previous years.

True but at this point I'd rather have that spot open to a Boqvist, Bratt, Kuokkanen, or Nolan. Maybe a 1-year FA signing just to reduce the long-term risk.

JVR would probably be the best LW on the team but, at this point, I would rather see the Devils give that spot to a rookie or 1 year FA and see what they can do. Adding JVR and Brodin would make the Devils better but I don't think it would be enough to make the playoffs.

At this point I would rather the Devils just sign/ trade for a couple of veterans/ cap dumbs to fill out the roster and basically tank for 2021. Kinda like what Ottawa this season did: let the rookies/ younger players play and see who has it and who doesn't.
