Eriksson Stays READ DESCRIPTION

Created by: ItsBlowTime
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 25, 2020
Published: Jul. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
imo Benning won't be able to trade Eriksson without A) giving up a 1st and/or top prospect, or B) taking on a bad contract in return which kind of negates the whole reason the Canucks are looking to trade him in the first place.

I think the best time to trade him would be before/during the 21/22 season where teams are more likely to be willing to take on that cap hit, or the Canucks could be in a more stable situation to retain a small percentage of it.

In the meantime, the team has a few above-average fringe players as well as one or two roster players that could be packaged to get rid of some of the bad but not terrible contracts. I would say that is a more long-term beneficial option than obliterating the pipeline.

All trades are up for discussion so please engage in the comments without being a tool.

Why aren’t you welling to trade a 2021 1st + Eriksson to LA ? The 2021 draft isn’t a good draft and make the 1st top3 protected

Don't see Cernak signing that to be fair.

21 draft is chock-full of defenders that could be very very good and Canucks need defense prospects desperately

Bad contract for bad contract between Canadian teams; like Neal for Lucic...but this time Alzner for Erikson.

I don't think Vancouver will be in any position to retain any salary in 2021-22. They have salary coming off the books, but they're going to get bent over a barrel by Pettersson and Hughes. I think getting off that deal will be worth whatever price they have to pay

We are gonna have to trade Eriksson to make room for Petey and Hughes's contracts, might as well just bite the bullet and trade a 1st to get rid of him now

Habs better off keeping Alzner than getting Erickson

I'm not personally sold on Woo becoming anything other than the 3rd pair defensive defenseman. Hopefully I'm wrong but in the meantime, I'd rather the team draft another D just to be safe.

It was sarcastic, we’ll keep Weal over Sutter, send Juolevi instead of Rafferty and maybe

It wasn’t sarcastic. And now that I look at it the use “absolutely” makes it seem like I was being sarcastic, lol.

lol @ 'maybe' Juolevi. Canucks will keep a 22yo 6'3/200lb defenseman scoring at a 0.6ppg AHL rate, thanks.
