No way Arizona takes Okposo. They are trying to shed salary and most definitely will have lost major money this year.

So Arizona has cap doom on the horizon for 2020-21 if they don't get rid of a few bad contracts...So what they do is get rid of Stepan who only has a year left, and bring in Okposo who's basically at the same cap hit, is worse, and has more time left on his contract? Huh???

Raanta for a second and long shot third line potential player seems fair, so we're taking on 2 years more of a worse player at 6 mil for free... fun

Alright that's debatable, but for the sake of your argument let's assume that is true.

If that's the case, Okposo is still worth wayyyyyyyyy less than Stepan because he's gonna be getting about the same cap hit as Stepan, but for 2 years longer. And there's no telling whether Okposo will drop off drastically or continue producing at a 20-30 point pace. Arizona doesn't want to dump a short stinker of a contract for a much longer stinker of a contract.

Okposo as a player is at best, marginally better than Stepan at this point.

They aren't looking to shed for one year and then have to dump a bunch of salary a year later they are taking in about 20 million in contract and trading out under 11

Okposo could produce 30 to 40 playing in an elevated role, maybe more with pp time. Arizona has space moving forward and win the trade going away. Raanta is the worst of their 3 goals and Stepan is a 3rd liner who is paid more than Okposo but scores similar or less than Okposo from the top 6 (when Okposo was on the 4th line). Everyone just recoils when they see Okposofor no reason other than stigma, hes not Loui Eriksson and hes way better than people give him credit for

Ok cool. Even with that being said, Arizona quickly hangs up if Okposo is involved in the deal.
