I’d consider the sens trade straight up no picks or retained money just 1-1 but doubt russell waives.

Always down for a bad contract swap. Edmonton wouldn’t retain on neal and doubt Phil waives his nmc, but love the idea

Expansion draft forced to protect kessel... Bad idea for Edmonton will end up costing something better. I don’t mind the gamble with no money being retained million more for kessel but one less year I think is doable as 1-1 but expansion implications heavily come into play.

I kinda think Kessel could have a resurgence next year. It didn’t looked like he slowed down or anything he just couldn’t find the back of the net. And he struggled under a very defensive system. Not many were able to score on the Coyotes this year. But I think he could easily get 30 or 40 goals again with McDavid. Which I would be okay with protecting.

Well of course you would. Anisimov had 15 goals in 49 games while in the bottom 6 on a basement dwelling team. That would be a GREAT DEAL for EDM.

I think it could work out equally for both clubs. Underestimate the impact russell could bring. Very versatile able to soak up tough minutes and take on a heavy defensive role which shouldn’t be understated when considering the youth being brought in. Russell and Larson don’t get appreciated for it but they are directly responsible for youth like jones and bear having success. I think he’s nearly the perfect target for Ottawa to pursue

I think Ottawa will be looking to be rewarded for taking on CAP, because if not now, when?? This is THE YEAR to make teams pay to shed cap and every GM knows it's going to cost them because a lot of teams need to shed and very few teams can afford to take it. We will keep Anisimov and look for a better return. If not EDM, we'll surely find it somewhere else.

That’s the same situation Edmonton is in with Russell. Won’t move unless the return actually makes sense he’s actually useful just a diminished role because of youth coming up. The fact russell is only owed 1.5 million makes him a lot more attractive to teams than this site would suggest.

this Neal for Kessel 1 for 1 is laughable.
Neal has 3 years left on that deal, Kessel 2. The 1 mil cap difference between the two doesn't make up for that.

Kessel still has play left in the tank. Much like Neal he's being used wrong in AZ. Both these guys need different systems but I can tell you now, that AZ system isn't what will fix Neal. So there is no reason for AZ to do this
