Protecting Fleury/Juulson over Mete/Kulak is just dumb, not resigning 2 of your 3 best forwards is a wonderful way to go back to tanking (especially when their asking for somewhat cheap deals, depending on term for Tatar), playing Drouin on the first line is nothing but idiotic, also taking Sanderson at 9 is insane, and he won't be close to NHL ready, much less top 4 ready in 2 years lol

Why be generous with Petry when we know his best years are behind him and be cheap with Danault when his game is still improving?

I can understand prefering Petry to Tatar, even of I would personnaly do the opposite, but keeping 9Mil of cap space without any significative contract comming up just because Danault is asking five hundred thousand dollars more than his value is silly.

It's not like if MTL need to sace for a big UFAs neither. They never come here.

Well he's right on a couple of thing tho. Fleury Juulsen (if healthy) >>> Kulak Mete. We absolutely have to sign Danault, if Poehling is worthy of a real 3C spot than you can trade one of them but having a quality player like Danault on a 3rd is how you build a championship team. Playing Drouin on the first is also pretty risky considering is defensive liability, I get why he's here since we don't have a lot of other options but on a real contender team, now way this guy face the best opposition night after night. He's wrong about Sanderson I give you this. Anyway, you don't have to be mean in your responses he have his opinions, this site is made for you to debate with him if you dont agree. If you think he's wrong prove him with arguments don't throw him under the bus.

Danault probably sign around 6M on a 6 years deal, I just wanna see a line up with Suzuki KK and Poehling as the 3 centers. Petry best years are behind ? 2017-2018 he had a career year, 2018-2019 nevermind that was is career year, 2019-2020 nevermind that was is career year, Jpsnow next year oh nevermind that was is career year. Maybe we should understand Petry is just getting better even if he’s in is 30’s. He is in is prime right now and we have no one to replace him for the next 3-4 years. We need him. I hope Drouin will explose like MacKinnon did when Duchene got traded. Not a 100 points player, but 75-85 would be pretty damn good.

Petry's career year was 2 years ago (2018-219) when Weber got injured. He would be 33 to 36 of age for his next contract. Except for Giordano, Neidermeyer, etc. type of talent, which Petry is not, Dmen slow down fast past 32-33. With Weber in the line up until he retires, I dont think having two aging RHD costing 13mil of cap space is a good way to go. Juulsen/Fleury will fight for a spot and you can also move a LHD to the other side. Another answer can come from UFAs or trade. Risto or Dumba would be my picks. Maybe less reliable but would improve puck moving.

Petry is a better skater than Dumba and Ristolainen, he’s such a fluide skater. Petry is a late bloomer and I don’t think he’ll hit a wall personally, but I could be wrong. Bergevin seems to want him back, we’ll see how it goes

We have a lot of information to gather before this important draft. If Juullsen plays like a second pairing D-men, Mtl could take the risk to expose Weber in order to keep Chiarot. I would also keep Danault and Tatar and expose Evans and Lehkonen. Money is not an issue a that time for Mtl. If Mtl loses Weber, they will have addtionnal money on the salary cap. I know this is not polically correct but this is the way to go on with a young team.

I agree on not protecting Weber, but we aren't protecting Chiarot for him. More Petry Fleury Juulsen. I really want Lehkonen to be protected, but I'm not wondering Bergevin is the GM so he's safe. Why protect a bunch of UFA over quality RFA. They wont protect Tatar Gallagher Danault Petry and Armia. Maybe 3-4, can't see Bergevin protection 5 UFA

It depends on who is resigned or now.
