It was from another tread as stated in additional details and Mete is NOT a stay at home dman. Plus we are taking on bad contracts to balance out the trade.

31 points in a 171 games in my opinion that is a stay at home dman.

You obviously don't watch him play much then huh. He is anything but a stay at home dman mostly he has had bad luck in the goals department as he hits a lot of posts or the shots are blocked (not an excuse just a statement).

You're joking right..... this clears like 8 million in cap space for Vanouver. They would jump at this deal if Roussel waived his NMC

He obviously does not watch a lot of Habs games. Love how he defines a stay at home D man!

Watch a few of his highlights before making a stupid comment like he is a small stay at home D man! Here is a link highlight numbers 6 and 7 in the montage is a good example of his speed and elite skating and puck handling ability.

hahahaha what other options? theres like 3 teams in the entire league that can take on that much cap and its still going to cost vancouver a good price for them to take the cap hits. Thinking Vancouver is going to win these trades to clear cap space isnt realistic

well he's certainly not an offensive defenseman. 31 points in 171 games. that's the equivalent of 15 pts(rounding up) over a full 82 game season.

both those contracts are front loaded. i can see ottawa taking at least 1 for cheap assuming ntc's don't get in the way.

Your right his first 2 seasons were not great but his rookie year he played 49 games in the top 4, which clearly he was not ready to handle, perhaps it even hurt his development a bit. Last year he was expected to improve and he did he had 13 assists not great but still decent for a sophomore D man especially seeing as it takes longer for defense-men to develop properly and remember he was fast tracked! This year the Habs were looking for him to break out and score 5-10 goals and pot 15-20 assists he was on pace to achieve the goals as he had 4 but he fell short in the assists and total points marks.

yeah he was on pace for 18 points this season, not enough for an offensive defenseman in the nhl. especially a 5'9" one.

Not without giving something similar to my package back in value and we are not talking about 1 of the contracts we are talking both contracts 8 Mil in value. Only Ottawa, New Jersey, Colorado and Montreal can take on that much cap. Ottawa, Colorado and Jersey will want whichever 1st Tampa does not get from the Miller trade + Virtanen . At least we are letting Van. keep their 1st.

I did say he fell short in the assists and total points department. He is also only 22 and was not developed properly so the fact that he is still making progress despite that is promising.

how do you get $8m in value? both contracts are $3m, so that $6m. then you have to replace them, even with league min players that brings it down to $4m - $4.5m in savings.

I wonder what other options the Canucks have? Does anyone else know? Do you have a direct line to Benning's office and know what he's going to do?! WOW what a resourse! Wait....is this Bob Mckenzie????

Mete just turned 22 years old and has been playing in the NHL for the last three seasons. Now, he's not a first round dynamo, but let's face it, Virtanen was supposed to be a first round dynamo and look where that got the Canucks. If you want Toffoli AND Markstrom, you'll need to give up a lot of salary. Mete is not a first pairing defenseman, but he IS a young, cost-controlled 2nd-3rd pairing defenseman. With Romanov coming up, the Canadiens have the ability to move Mete and not have it harm them. Frankly, if I were the Canadiens, I probably do not make this deal because I wouldn't be over the moon to acquire over-paid castoffs from the Canucks. That's just me. The Canadiens have quality 3rd-4th line guys; they don't need Roussell or Beagle or Virtanen and, while you do not regard Mete as a player worthy of trading for, I assume Mete would be worth at least a lower 2nd and not a 3rd.

The idea was to get Virtanen who I feel could be a good power forward like Armia
