The amount of posts I’ve seen lately dumping Shaw is astonishing. I’m not really sure why everyone is doing it when he is the exact player the hawks needed the most over the last few seasons.

Idk if I'd do that EDM trade. Kurashev has gotten rave reviews by a lot of people, I think he could be in this lineup in a year or 2. Along with that, I know, pump the brakes on Suter a little bit, but I think part of the agreement of getting him here was kind of insuring he would get his chance to prove himself in the top 9, and just tossing him on the 4th line for like 8 minutes per night doesnt send a great message to other EU FAs that we potentially look to sign

The Hawks need to make Cap-room and I think the best way to go is Shaw, we have a player like him in Caggiula, and he's cheaper.

Shaw is much better than Cag’s, and there are much better ways to clear cap than Shaw.

yes but were giving up key players like Saad, Strome, kubs, de Haan, The only people to trade that won't effect the team are smith, Maata, or shaw in my opinion

Keokkeok will only play 3 LD if there's an injury, he's our established 7th D

I doubt De Hann is a key player, but what about not AA?

I would argue that Shaw is more integral to our success than De Hann.

A fully heathly de Haan and if Seabrook plays as well as he did in training camp, and Boqvist and Carlsson taking a step foward as an NHLers. Keith guiding Mitchell as a defender. The Blackhawks defense will do good. Not even to mention one of the best Pk team this year

de Haan could be a key player if he's healthy next year, if healthy could be the second best defensemen on our team.

Shaw was a key player in the past, but him injured with a serious injury, I doubt that he'll return to what he was before.

Seabrook hasnt been good for a long time, fixing his shoulder wont magically turn one of the worst defensemen in the nhl into even a league average defensemen. Keith isnt a top pairing defensemen anymore. theyve got a few prospects but they are a ways away from becoming a good defensive team. last season they were one of the worst defensive teams but were held up by fantastic goaltending. losing Lehner and Crawford would be a disaster, especially if they were to replace them with Holtby.

Problem is you’re assuming he’s going to be healthy. Shaw isn’t who he used to be, even before his concussion issues resurfaced. His cap hit is atrocious considering that injury history and even though he insists he will be back next year, if he was smart he’d just retire and care for his family. Or at the very least enjoy free money on LTIR.

It’s fine to say he’s what we need on paper, but he isn’t that player anymore and he will never be capable of being that player ever again. Not with his concussion issues. Asking to be that guy again would be to tell him to risk his life every game. I’m not ever gonna ask that of a player.

they gave up Sam Gagner ( cap dump) and a 2nd for him, and he didnt exactly inspire next to McDavid this year, so I think Hagel and a 3rd would probably be around the max I'd pay for him

The Lehner Trade was a disaster, Crawford health is getting the better of him and I could see him retiring. Holtby would be an upgrade over Crawford in my opinion. I'm not saying Seabrook will return to his old self, I think he'll do better then last season. He said he was shruggling with his shoulder for a while now and after the surgery he's said it's been the best in years and during training camp he's played good and looked to be better then last season and the year before.

I wouldnt write him off quite yet. Sure he's not faster, but he will probably be more comfortable in his body and most importantly comfortable with his stick, as "he wasnt able to sleep on his shoulder in years." That said, he wont be more than a bottom pairing guy, but his puck movement and stick usage probably get a little bit better from it. I think if we can find a true 1LD, thats all we really need and the group becomes a lot better, because you are putting Keith into 2nd pairing minutes where he can once again thrive and the whole group gets better due to correct usage.

You are going accept 5th for Shaw and you are going to get a 3rd for Maatta? Chicago is going to dump Shaw for a 5th and if they did Detroit isn't going to accept it. It makes absolutely no sense for either side. Maatta could easily the slowest player in the league and he lost is last position in Pittsburgh to Jack Johnson.

Because I'd rather play koekkoek at 3LD than one of the 4 righties, or you could send mitchell down/trade murphy
