BUF certainly likes that trade. Adams might not do it in fear of criticism, though

Ifeel like Buffalo would rather use the first and keep Okposo for that package

Adam's makes this deal an gets little criticism. Most Sabre fans would applaud this move. Don't love Henriques contract but Anaheim taking on Okposo's deal resolves that issue.

The trade is fine but you aren't getting Drysdale and Rossi with those picks.

8OA will be Holtz

Likely that Ottawa takes Drysdale at 5 and Detroit takes Rossi or Perfetti at 4.

Maybe you guys could end up with Raymond and Holtz.

Henrique, Rakell and a 4th is waaaay to much for 8OA and a cap dump

Rakell alone gets that

This would be a really good deal for BUF if they want to compete now. But I could also see a new GM wanting to make his mark with his first draft choice. In my mind, this would be a good deal for them as they already have some good young players and this will be a good sign of faith to the players and fans that they want to compete.

I don’t think so considering Rakell’s decline

What decline? The decline of the team around him? hard not to see a point dip when your the only threat worth shutting down

Hes a 50pt guy on an anemic offense, put him even on a middle of the road team and he pushes 70 a season

Buffalo takes this trade all day and Adams wheels his massive balls up to the press conference in a wheel barrow.

This trade makes buffalo a contender, no doubt.

No. Henrique isn’t worth 8th overall his age is a concern. Okposo bad contact sure, but he’s still a really good 4th liner.

Buffalo would be stupid to not take this. Place Rakell on Eichel's left side, and make Henrique Buffalo's 2C, easy.

Although this is a good trade for both sides its too much for Anaheim to give up as @Salzy said. The cap dump of Okposo puts this way over the top. Taking that contract alone is a late first to early second. That said, any Buffalo fan that refuses this trade is a silly goose.

I’d put rakell on the 2nd line with skinnner and Henrique, go olofsson Eichel reinhart in top. Have cozens start on the 3rd line. With the new found centre depth you may even be able to start him at C.

Yeah I agree with 923. And people act like adding Okposo is doing Buffalo a favor. Pass, and im very trigger happy on trading 8. It maybe makes Buffalo a contender for wild card once before Henrique falls apart

Ducks fans like Rakell way more than the rest of the league. I remember the last analytical darling that the Sabres just had to trade for.

Olofsson is on Eichels left side and was on pace for 70+ before he got hurt. I doubt Rakell would beat out Skinner on the left side as well

I think Henrique with only 4 years left will stay pretty productive. At some point (hopefully) cozens pssses him and he is pushed to the wing or third line.

Key rfa contracts are on the horizon so the trade doesn’t work if okposo doesn’t go the other way.

Sabres could certainly keep the puck and prolong the rebuild another 2-3 years. I’m not even saying it’s a bad idea. I think Henrique and Rackell complete this teams top 9 and you still have montour to deal to re capture some futures. Or Risto for a lesser return.

The eichel point is annoying. Everybody produces with eichel. Its getting the 9 other forwards to chip in a point every 10 games thats the problem. If you have to sell a guy as being a really good fit to score with eichel, red flags go up for me.

It's a tough choice, I might be outnumbered, but I wouldn't do it as a Buffalo fan. I'll try to explain my logic. I think we can find 2C and top 9 RW without trading #8, of course it's a risk and I don't even know how much Adams can handle this offseason, but I want to believe that he can. I would be willing to trade 2021 first, Mittelstadt or Thompson, Risto or Montour, separately or in a package. Find some inexpensive attack aid in UFA. This is a very good draft if you have a top 10 pick and we finally have to learn how to development our prospects, especially with a flat cap in the coming years.

imo I think if I was Buffalo, I would go,
Olofsson - Eichel - Rakell
Skinner - Henrique - Reinhart

And what if the 2021 is top 5? I think you have found a 2c in cozens but you need a stop gap.

There are no two C’s available in ufa and in ufa you will overpay and have to give term. I’m sure when I say that buffalo isn’t an attractive destination for ufa’s at the moment I won’t be surprising you.

True top 6 wingers won’t be available either.

That’s why in my other comment I said put Rackell and Henrique with skinner. You’re not looking for someone to play with Eichel, hell, I could play with Eichel. But if Henrique and Rackell could get skinner going (they would) now you have a top 6. You have cozens kahun and johan which means you now have a proper top 9 and if there’s one thing that buffalo has more of than any other team it’s 4th liners. Tons of cheap young nhl players that can’t break through.

The defense is good, hope for some goaltending and make buffalo an attractive spot.

I’ve said for the past 2 years on here that buffalo is one 2c and one 2rw short of being a competing team. This trade fits that bill.
