Sabres aren't trading Jokiharju for that whole package on it's own. Maybe Brock Nelson and a pick or prospect

Why would the islanders trade one of their only young top 6 wingers for a defenseman that would slot in on the 3rd pairing behind pulock and Dobson

well to be fair beau is not top 6 on many other teams maybe not even buff and thats saying a lot. And also to continue to be fair Pulock is traded in this scenario anyway

Beauvillier was better than both of buffalo lw this season (skinner + olofsson). He plays in a defensive system so you can’t go by only points with him (although a 21 goal, 47 pt pace isn’t bad). He would put up at least 25+ goals in an offensive minded system. Overall he was just as good as barzal this season.

Jokiharju has been a decent even strength defender , but he’s been an offensive blackhole and he’s brutal on the PP/PK.

Also because you probably can’t back it up. Skinner was below replacement level this season. Olofsson had a good year but most of his production came on the powerplay, he’s a powerplay specialist that’s it. He cannot generate his own offense at even strength. Great shot though...

I mean sure dude lets take one down year of skinner because he played with nobody. and forget he is a top 15 5v5 scorer. Olofsson scored more points on a worse team but youll justify it as PP only. but ok.
Is there anything Beau is better at than those two

I’d say one season is a pretty large sample size.

Beauvillier is better than skinner at driving play offensively, he’s also better defensively and on the PP. the only thing skinner is better than beau at is scoring goals 5 v 5

Using only points to evaluate a player is a flawed argument. Beauvillier plays in a system that stifles offense but his underlying numbers are well above average. Olofsson plays on the powerplay with one of the best centers in the NHL.

Olofsson is a good player, but I’ll take the player who can drive play at 5 v 5 and generate his own offense over a guy with a great shot.

How the **** are you quantifying "driving play"
Skinner skill set is not in that area. he is a goal scorer that finds the right place at the right time. and whatever man you can argue all you want about olofsson but he was hurt for like 11ish games and still has better numbers. and again his role was not to drive play.
but if your content with "driving play" for sure dude

Beauvilliers advanced stats, I’m not giving my opinion on skinner + olofsson - the underlying numbers back up what I’m stating.

Never said olofsson + skinner were bad players, you started by saying that beau wouldn’t be a top 6 on many other teams and that’s simply not true. I was arguing why he is a top 6 forward. Context matters.

If your argument is driving play where does he fall in the sabres lineup?
he isn't not beating out two goal scoring LW so he would be 3rd line.. not top 6
not many teams need an average winger driving their line

Beauvillier has an above average shot. He’s not just a play driver. The only reason why he doesn’t have more points is because of trotz system. same with barzal.

Overall beauvillier is a better player than both skinner and olofsson right now - if beauvillier was on the Sabre’s I’d put him on the 2nd line with olofsson and johansen. It’s probably best to attach skinner to Eichel to make that contract somewhat worth it.
