It’s hard to vote for the Art Ross winner. I get Buffalo stinks, but when mcdavid was out, Edmonton really isn’t any better.

Eichel is a better two way player. I’m sure he would win the art ross if he played with Mcdavid 36 percent of the time too.

McDavid did miss time this year, 6 games in a row at one point. Draisaitl scored 12 points in that stretch and led the team to a 3-2-1 record despite a difficult Eastern roadtrip. The Tampa Bay loss (in Tampa) was a 1 goal game until the last minute when the Lightning scored an empty netter, while the Boston loss was decided in OT. They beat Chicago, Florida and Carolina, the last two on the road. That's a .583 win percentage without McDavid. Does that sound like any recent Buffalo team to you?

McDavid also missed the second last game, against Vegas, another OT loss, bringing the Oilers full season McDavid-less record to 3-2-2, or .571 win percentage. That would make them the 15th best team in the league, just behind Columbus and Toronto (tied at .579) and ahead of Florida, Nashville and Vancouver (tied at .565). Buffalo finished 26th in the league tied with New Jersey at .493.

Note that 3 of the 4 losses were against top-8 teams: Boston, Tampa Bay and Vegas - and 2 of those were OT losses. This isn't a Buffalo-equivalent team, even without McDavid.

As far as offensive production goes, Draisaitl is way ahead of Eichel. Leon is a top-5 goal scorer right now and a top-5 passer, Eichel is neither.

I’ll have to go with Eichel since he is still considered one of the top players in the league after playing four years in Buffalo

Dude, you’re trying to hype up loses lmfao. That’s when you know the team stinks without mcdavid. The only teams they beat were as you said: Chicago, Carolina, Florida. 3 middle of the road teams. Maybe Edmonton wouldn’t be as bad as buffalo; but they’d be down there in the standings. Also it’s only a 7 game sample size. If mcdavid missed the entire season, zero team that team makes the playoffs

Last year Draisaitl became only the 2nd player in the decade to both score 50 goals and 100 points. Malkin was the only other player to do so, way back in 2011-12.

This year Draisaitl led the league in points by far, finishing 13 points ahead of the second best player, Connor McDavid. His 43 goals were 4th in the league while his 67 assists were 1st in the league. His 1.55 P/GP scoring rate was also 1st in the league in 2019-20.

Over the past 2 seasons combined, he ranks 2nd in goals (to Ovechkin) with 93 and T-4th in the league for assists. His 215 points place him 1st in the entire NHL, two ahead of McDavid and Kucherov, who are tied at 213.

Eichel isn't close. Here are their stats this season along with their overall rank in the NHL:

1. Draisaitl: 71, 43-67-110 [1.55 P/GP]
11. Eichel: 68, 36-42-78 [1.15 P/GP]

... and over the past 2 years:

1. Draisaitl: 153, 93-122-215 [1.41 P/GP]
12. Eichel: 145, 64-96-160 [1.10 P/GP]

The man is a BEAST.

See that's the problem with discussions on this board, nobody can make a cogent argument. I point out where you are wrong based on actual stats and you reply with your unaltered opinions, such compelling arguments as "the team stinks without mcdavid" and "zero team that team makes the playoffs".

Aren't there any rocks that need breaking?

You pointed out a small 7 game sample size. Your “sample size” isn’t very accurate. Pens this year literally went on a massive winning streak with a roster that was missing key players. It wouldn’t sustain over a whole 82 game season. Edmonton’s 3C is already bad enough with Riley Sheehan. One of the worst 3Cs in the league. Imagine sliding him up to 2C lmfao. Let’s just say they use RNH as 2C to add some more depth.

AA-Drai-Yams
Ennis-RNH-Kassian
Khura-Sheehan-Archibald
Neal- _____ -Chiasson

That is an incredibly weak forward group. Edmonton already has some of the worst depth in the league. Remove mcdavid for an extended period of time, and this team doesn’t make the playoffs. I don’t know how you could say otherwise.
