I don’t see these two teams in a trade like this. Mantha means too much for Detroit and what they will want will be more than what he is valued and more than what buffalo would want to give. Also going to throw In that same division so I don’t think it’s going to happen. It’s probably the equivalent of Detroit trading a future 1st, 2nd, Rasmussen, veleno, and Svechnikov for Eichel. I’m not saying it to be a dick I’m just being bluntly honest and saying the chance of an in division deal like this is unlikely

Detroit passes, we’ve already discussed the price with Buffalo fans. Needs to have either 8OA + or Cozens.

Mantha wouldnt be worth it for teams like Buffalo, especially when Detroit fans are asking for Cozens or 8OA in return. The Sabres need a Center to compliment the wingers they already have in place. The only teams that should look into him are contenders looking to fortify their roster. Detroit fans way over value him, see above

This deal doesn't work for either side. As proposed it is too high a cost for Buffalo. We would rather have 8 o/a and Reinhart than we would Mantha. He doesn't really fill a need for us so what we would offer in return for this player would not be enough for Detroit to move him. The OP of this team is a redwings fan BTW.

Can these Mantha trades please stop. He could be a top 6 forward when our window opens so we aren’t trading unless someone severely overpays.

Agreed. Most people on here don't understand quality over quantity anyway.

I don't think the quantity vs quality is the issue here it is the issue that certain players have a higher value to their current team then they do to the rest of the league. Eichel or Cozens for the Sabres or Mantha or Larkin for Detroit.

My offer was more futures as swapping Reinhart and Mantha makes little sense for both teams. If we are to move Mantha it would be to get younger.

Understood 8 o/a or Cozens is too high a price for Mantha. I understand how he would be more valuable to Detroit than that but we fully anticipate 8 o/a or Cozens to become a better player than Mantha in the long run and also to fill bigger organizational needs. I don't think the value is that far off. Mantha is probably worth 12 - 15 o/a in this draft but I can see Detroit wanting to keep a proven commodity rather than to gamble on a higher upside prospect.

I think the upside of a player at 8OA is Mantha. Over his last 82 games played he’s posted 32 goals and 40 assists. If I could get that production out of an 8OA I’d be pretty stoked. We’d be talking a guy like Holtz or Quinn but there’s definitely a risk with any prospect. Hopefully Mantha doesn’t fight next season so he can stay healthy and finally see a whole season production. A Montreal fan posted 9OA + Petry and it was received with mixed emotions from DRW so that gives you an idea of how we view him. He has 2 more RFA years and is young enough to be apart of the the rebuild so who knows.

Did anyone else notice that his conditions conflicted with each other what happens if in 2021 they get the top 3 then make the 2nd round of the playoffs in 2022 you can't give your 1st Round twice!!! haha

It doesn't. It's the 2021 playoffs. Which means they can't win the lottery and make the second round of the playoffs.

Mantha is 25 so the results from his previous years in the league cannot be ignored when judging his value. His best comparable is likely Reinhart. Reinhart is worth 12 - 15 o/a in this draft, but we would not trade him for that. At 8 o/a I am hoping for a point per game play driving forward or top 4 defenseman. That is more than what Mantha or Reinhart have been to this point in their careers. Also with the style of game Mantha plays and the injuries he has suffered so far it is fair to expect his decline to start in his early 30 's with the wear and tear on his body. So you have about 5 more years of this level as opposed to 8 years on a cost controlled contract with a draft pick.

Absolutely you should judge previous years and account for any possible outlier trends. If you noticed Mantha has steadily improved (like most big guys) and really has heat up the past 1.5-2 years. Mantha doesn’t play like a power forward even though he fights occasionally so I think he’ll age fine. His injuries aren’t ones that linger either. You can hope for a PPG play driving forward at 8OA but the chances of that occurring aren’t what I’d consider great. It’s all good though everyone values picks/prospects/cap differently.

Sure there are no guarantees in the draft, but if I were starting a rebuild or if his contract demands were higher than on I was willing to meet I would move Reinhart for this return. We are not there so I would not at this point.
