Easy no from Vancouver. Too costly to get rid of one year of Sutter and Baerschti. First for Eriksson is more reasonable.

I hope Dorion is smart enough to know VAN's 2021 1st is NOT enough compensation for taking on Eriksson's cap hit. There are too many teams desperate to shed cap and OTT is one of the few that can take it on. That means we have the leverage, not the other way around.

Would be a terrible overpay by Rangers to give a top 100 pick to dump Smith to Ottawa, whose owner is specifically looking for contracts like Smith's to hit the cap floor and spend the least amount of actual cash as possible.

Fair enough. Your cap space is an asset, but you also have an owner who doesn't want to pay to the cap and would prefer high cap hit players with less cash payout.

Not sure anything more makes sense for Vancouver.

VAN: People need to stop pretending like they can dump 12M of Loui for a single first. Not in the flat cap. Not with 2 years on contract. VAN is getting nearly 20M in cap dump over 2 seasons, so the price is fair (provided the 2021 1st is top 10 protected). OTT should send roster body depth going back (Hawryluk/Paul/Chlapik)

BUF: Buffalo has had top 10 picks for the last decade. They know that one more top 10 isnt going to suddenly right the ship. Tierney AND Duclair to move up 10 spots? Buffalo is getting a steal here.

TBL: I dont think TBL lets Cernak go for that

NYR: I think NYR can shift Smith for less. 3rd coming to OTT and a 6th going back or something.

I agree with all of this EXCEPT for Nick Paul being shipped to VAN as depth. Nick Paul has been undervalued for far too long. We finally got a coach smart enough to play him and he is just getting started!
