Cirelli Offer sheet and Krejci trade

Created by: kscoop
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 28, 2020
Published: Jul. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
TB probably matches this but if they couldn't the depth at centre for the Bruins would be nasty. Krejci trade contingent on Cirelli signing. I'd increase the Cirelli contract to 6 million at most if need be.

Canes pass. We don't have the cap to take a cooked Krejci. We also don't have a place for him in our lineup.

Well Krejci instantly becomes your 2nd line centre while moving others around providing depth at other positions.

He doesn't sit above Trocheck, so that pushed Krejci down to 3C, where we already have Jordan Staal who's one of the best in the league at the shutdown role in the bottom 6. We have no place for him.

Plus, we still have Necas

Trochek plays RW no problem. And Krejci out produces Staal (who I like) any day of the week. Staal is the prototypical 3C

I love that Canes fans say he's cooked, but he would have been 4th on their team in points this year tears of joy

Who do you then take out of the lineup? Ignoring the fact we don't have the cap space, we have Dzingel, Niederreiter, Necas and Teravainen on the RW. That is why Trocheck is a C

Canes aren’t paying 2 2nds for a downward sloping center with a 7 million price tag.

You want to pay us to take him, maybe.

cool keep him. A 34 year old Krejci at 7.25 million, producing 30-40 points has little interest for most teams even more so in a flat cap season.

70 points last year and .75 PPG this year

You really dont know anything.

Do some research, then talk to us

ooof another person who doesnt understand cap constraints in the flat cap world and how this OP is trying to get rid of him to get Cirelli. In fact he is a cap dump in this scenario.

Nope. A 2nd line center on a 1 year deal. He is a RENTAL. not a cap dump

nope not in this scenario. This OP is trying to dump cap space to make room for a ridiculously high offer sheet for Cirelli. Oddly enough that is a cap dump by definition.

By your definition of a cap dump pretty much every trade involving a roster player is a cap dump. You trade a player to replace them, you aren’t going to trade a second line center with no replacement. Like I get what you’re saying I just don’t agree with your stance here

I would love to have Krejci as a rental. But I think BOS needs to retain some or take back some salary for it to really make sense from CAR perspective. Conversely, we could give up 1 2nd and take him at full boat. He would be a luxury pick-up for us as we don't exactly have a "need" for another center but I think we would go for it was a good value deal. At the deadline he could potentially bring a 1st if he has another solid year..

not necessarily. You trade a roster player for another roster player =/= cap dump
trading a roster player because a team overpaid or gave you players that fit your needs =/= cap dump
trading a roster player so that you have the cap room to get another player that is younger and better is a cap dump. Especially when the player has 1 year left, a high cap hit, and 34 years old. That is most definitely a cap dump.

Krejci is a good player but not one the Canes are going to add when they have their own cap issues. We have about 4 million in performance bonuses that are carrying over as well. Now if you wanted to trade some roster players that have a smaller cap hit than Krejci plus a 2nd to even the value for Krejci sure I would gladly take him. But the Canes cant afford your cap dump without some incentive to do so.

Reasonable in a non-flat cap year, sure. In a year where the vast majority of teams cant consume 7.25 million, not reasonable. In fact there are about 5 teams who could do it and how many would do it? Knowing it would be maybe 2-3 and knowing Krejci will veto most of them, y'all get very little return. We got very little for Skinner because we didnt have much options and Skinner had more value than Krejci does at this point.

you got very little for skinner because of his work ethic... its the same reason he really only performs well in contract years.

Lol yet another fan in denial. We r trying to teach him, he wont even begin to listen.
Krejci isnt a cap dump, he is a 1 year rental (if traded of course) lol its so obvious

Cutting his point total in half and then turning 34 next season doesn’t help your argument. Not a heck of an addition with a 7.25 million cap hit.

I also love when fans try to dump a high cap hit to replace with a younger, better player but then want to tell you fortunate you are to get the player they are trying to get rid of.

If you want to just talk about points, he would have been fourth on the canes this season. Second for centers. He’s a useful player.
