He's a perfect 3C, Patrice Bergeron without the offensive capability. When he was younger he was expected to drive a line a little more, he's now expected to play sound in his own zone and shelter a few younger players who we could see playing C going forward.
I believe him and Frolik covering the D zone was a huge reason Tkachuk took off as quick as he did, but now Calgary needs more offensive punch than Monahan down the middle.

Jordan Staal isnt an offensive 2C. He is a league leader shutdown center. You may get 35 points out of him, maybe.

Jordan Staal is Backlund on drugs. He's ELITE defensively, but you're doing well if he breaks the 30 point mark

Domi could work but he would cost assets. Tkachuk and domi on a line together would be hillarious.

There is alot to him. But bottom line he now projects more as a middle 6 winger 40 - 50 points type of guy. Still tons of skill but he was overhyped and not developed properly we were expecting him to be 60 + point highly skilled 2C at this point similar to Kuznetsov or Duchene

Thats my thoughts. Im not interested in the Stromes personally. I think they have too similar of weaknesses to Monahan (plus more) and it would more noticeably emphasize our center issues.

Stastny would cheap but not sure if he has much left in the tank.
I dont view Domi as 1st line or 2nd line C, better suited as winger there.
maybe 3rd line C at best.

Johnson is winger too.
And Stromes are not as good as even Monahan imo.

And what would be the cost of getting Domi?
Domi + Mete for Hanifin+Bennett type of value???

The Sabres rushed him to the NHL far too quickly And gave him too much responsibility, one calendar year removed from playing high school hockey. He got most of a season in the AHL last year and may be ready to come back up and contribute. Whether he is a third line center or winger I think he can help. He is still very young and has a lot of untapped potential. I don’t think the Sabres trade him unless he is the dealbreaker on a move they have to make.

Interesting one, I think that Krejci says no to that before any team gets a chance to talk but i wouldn't give up too much, prospect, mid pick I think. After next season Calgary would be right back to looking for a C.
