Assuming VAN protects Miller, Petey, Boeser, Horvat, Virtanen and Gaudette (all seem like no-brainers if none get traded), then Seattle would have their choice of younger guys like MacEwen, Lind, or Motte. I think they'd be way more attractive for the Kraken to select than Roussel, as much as I'd like them to take Antoine.

The idea is that Roussel spent the past season playing with Horvat and puts up good numbers like he did before his injury. An expiring deal could be valuable at the deadline if the Kraken are looking to acquire picks.

I get what you're saying though. If the Canucks have to give up something to ensure Seattle take Roussel, then so be it.

I get where your head is at after you explained the Roussel scenario in your other post. That would be an ideal situation if he played well enough to earn some top six time and become an attractive option for Seattle.

If Seattle still doesn't want to straight up take them then we could pay to have them take him. It shouldn't cost too much and would be worth it.

The other thing to note is that the Canucks protection slots on defense are wide open. In this post they would probably be used on Juolevi, Stetcher and Rafferty. Edler and Tanev are UFAs and Myers shouldn't be protected, so we'll likely have the opportunity to make a move for a defensemen around Expansion time. There could be some good options available like Graves, Mayfield, Bean, etc. I didn't account for them here since a lot can change in terms of who's available, but I would expect to be involved in those deals.

Not paying 34th overall for Pearson. Will do Colorado pick plus a 3rd in '21 but 34th overall is too much for Pearson.
