You can steal a pick from Detroit because you’re taking their cap dump.

not a fan of this trade, not a big fan of Montour plus Mittelstadt doesnt move the needle for the Avs, he is a worse version of Jost who Avs need to find a role for.

I like the Avs deal for the Sabres but this second line looks like a disaster. Also the pairing of Zadorov and Risto would be a great drill in the zone. Pair Risto with McCabe and Zadorov with Joker

That's a no from Colorado. Montour is decent, but we don't really need him, nor do we have a desire for a reclamation project in Mittelstadt.

Offer us futures or Reinhardt if you want to deal.

No. Obviously there would be more pieces involved. But there just isn't a trade around Compher + Zadorov (+) that works because Buffalo doesn't have pieces other than futures and top 6 forwards (which they likely won't give up).

That's a smart @$$ answer, but factually incorrect. Helm was serviceable last year. When the team trading the servicable player retains salary making him only a 1.925M player you have to pay for that---not get something. The cap dumps would be taking on Abdelkader or Nielsen--but with 35M in cap space next year and only 5 players under contract the following year...the Wings don't need to dump cap. In fact they be taking advantage of dumb GM's that will be selling for pennies on the dollar

So if they all increase their production for the year we can hope for 30 maybe 35 goals for the season from the second line if they get some puck luck. That ought to take the pressure of line one and insulate Cozens matchups real well

People think trading 8OA for 40 pt Henrique and Rakell is a good idea. Same production here for much cheaper. Plus production is a result of usage and linemates. Use them in offensive heavy situations, Skinner doesnt even want to play d anyway

Mittelstadt > compher

Montour > Zadorov (different styles)
Mittelstadt < Compher (Mittelstadt is an AHLer currently, while Compher is a great 3rd liner on 1 of the best teams in the league)

Compher is a career 3rd liner and will never amount to anything more. So why would you not bank on mitts potential

A career 40 point 2 way 3rd liner is part of the missing puzzle pieces in Buffalo. If Mitts isnt a top 6 forward, he flames out, hes not fit for the bottom 6, and hes quickly running out of spots in Buffalo.

Same production. Over the past 2 years 88 games Cory Perry has a total.of 20 even strength points playing with mostly top 6 linemates. Spezza.over 134 games over the last two years has 23 even strength points playing with mostly top 6 linemates in Dallas and third line players with Toronto. That gives you nowhere near the production that Henrique and Rackell offer. Trading 8 o/a isn't my favorite idea but bringing in Henrique who generates consistenrlyb40 - 50 points per season and about 20 goals and the same with Rackell is a much greater impact. Henrique alone doubled the goal production of these 2 players last year.

Henrique is .39 5v5 ppg over the last 2 seasons. Rakell has the exact same stats in 19 less games. Spezza was playing with mostly 3rd and 4th liners in his last year in Dallas (https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/players/jason-spezza). He has .25 5v5 ppg over the last 2 years, with those 3rd and 4th liners, Perry is .23 with mostly bottom 6 time except for right after he had come back from injury. 2 are free, just monetary and cap costs, 2 cost 8OA

Perry played with Seguin or Benn on well over 1/2 of his shifts. Spezza played with Kapanen on the majority of his shifts this year. .24 to .39 points per game equates to 25 extra points over 82 games let's split that and say 15 goals as Henrique and Rackells gpg rates are a much higher contrast between them and the players you proposed. That brings the Sabres from 21st in 5 vs 5 goals for to around 13 or 14th and makes them a playoff team as opposed to not even in during the expanded playoffs. That is a huge difference. Again Henrique and Rackell aren't my favorite idea but a way better plan than Perry and Spezza even if it costs us significant assets. If I were Eichel the moment I found out this was the plan to help this team score more goals I would request a trade.

nailed the analysis on this.
COL has no use for Montour and "no pull up" Mittelstadt IS a worse version of Jost

I said if I were Eichel I would request a trade, because I would feel this organization is clueless and never going to improve. I have no way of knowing what he is thinking. Perhaps he will like the idea of the team addressing their biggest need in goal scoring by bringing in two players that have average a combined 14 goals over the past 2 seasons is a good idea. Maybe he will advocate that they bring in Pat Maroon to complete the line and healthy scratch skinner.
