Ummm, No. As It is, it's a massive overpayment that I doubt the Islanders are interested in. The difference between Eichel and Barzal is not a top 6 forward, a blue chip prospect and a first.

Eichel is better than barzal , but the difference is not Dobson, wahlstrom and a 1st. I wouldn’t even do barzal + Dobson.

Watch both players play, eichel is much better than barrel. Barzel is a nice player, but nowhere near the level of eichel.

Much better? Nah. Barzal plays in a defensive minded system, his skating/puck skills are top 10 among centers easily.

No chance I give up barzal + Dobson, the most I’d do is barzal + 2021 1st.

I mean Dobson was very good. But you are talking about a late future first, Wahlstrom who has not exactly been an instant success and Dobson who looks very good but has not yet played 1/2 of an NHL season. The only sure thing here is Barzal the rest are just projections.

Wahlstrom had a bad year at BC (tbf that entire team was bad) but he has been solid in the AHL and played well during his call up. The way the isles develop their forward prospects under trotz is ridiculous. The coaches have told bellows and wahlstrom not to focus so much on points, focus more on their play away from the puck. That’s why it’s flawed just to use points when evaluating certain isles prospects.

Dobson’s underlying numbers were great this season and he was playing on his offside with one of the worst defenseman in the NHL (boychuk). The only reason he didn’t play much is because trotz refuses to play rookies.

It just makes no sense for the isles to trade barzal + Dobson. I’d rather have two elite players than 1, even though Eichel is better

Understood and we would rather have Eichel than that full package but if you are talking fair value. IMO that is what it is

If he's that good shouldn't he get paid big boy money?

I’m sure points will factor into contract discussion. If he opts for a bridge deal , he can’t command more than 7.5 mill, but for 5+ years he’ll absolutely get between 8.5-9.5 mill.

I think 7.5M should be the low point for a realistic 3 year deal. Islanders fans should be very happy I they get that.

Even 8Mx3 for him isn't bad. Any more than that is starting to become an overpay.

Now this is a REASONABLE offer for Eichel
I’d have to imagine that it would start with Barzal,
and the other pieces would be negotiable
