Wild moves

Created by: EccE
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2020
Published: Jul. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let's assume Wild gets Lafreniere.

Offer sheeting Cirelli gives the Wild a capable top-6 center for a good price. Tampa can't afford to pay him and 5 years is the best amount of years for Cirelli as he can test the UFA-market right after the contract.

These moves would make the Wild a contender again, leaving roughly 30 million next offseason to sign Kaprizov, Fiala etc.

Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Parise, Zach
Additional Details:
Minnesota gets cap relief and Isles gets ultimately the best player in this trade. Bellows and Koivula are B-tier prospects at best, so they are great sweeteners.
2.
MIN
  1. 2021 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Could be any team really, Toronto just comes to mind.
TOR
  1. Pateryn, Greg
Additional Details:
Wild doesn't need him and his contract. A buyout is also possible.
3.
MIN
  1. 2021 3rd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
Stalock could replace Dell. This is a trade that could be done with many teams, though, so if SJ declines, Wild offers it to Philly or something.
SJS
  1. Stalock, Alex
Additional Details:
A capable backup with a super cheap contract. Trading him gets the Wild back to the 3rd round after offer sheeting Cirelli.

From the Sharks perspective, re-signing Dell for cheap (doubt there's a huge market for him) and holding onto the pick makes more sense. Basically the same goalie. Dell was a .912 after the coaching change and .907 overall.

There's nothing too out of the ordinary here. Offer sheets almost never happen, but given TBL's cap situation, it makes sense on paper. Still, if MIN does not get Lafreniere, what is the plan?

They have Demko and DiPietro. Also, they don't swim in cap space, so it is a possibility. If Wild doesn't get Markstrom, Lehner would be another option.

No from Isles, Parise to them was over when Pageau was acquired. Cannot take on more cap and need Bellows and Koivula ELC.

Sharks accept Stalock is a great locker room guy can start if Jones sucks and is a solid backup if jones turns it around and gives the two kids another season in the minors to perfect their game!
Plus sharks are putrid in the 3rd round (name 2 guys in the last 20 years we’ve picked in the 3rd who have amounted to anything)

Sharks probably decline to be honest. The value is very good, but I've never been a huge fan of Stalock, and he certainly won't be the answer to our goaltending woes, even if he is dirt cheap.

I was thinking the Wild would keep Stalock cheap, to back up Kahkonen, & also expose in the expansion Draft.
