Ok, so if Larkin is untouchable then Buffalo reacquires their third round pick from the Rangers and makes an offer sheet on Cirelli.

Buf 3rd rounder (2021) to Rangers for Brandon Hickey
Buf 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (2021) offer sheet compensation for Cirelli $6.2 million. Cirelli takes Larkin’s spot in this lineup.

Eichel is better than Larkin but he is just as important to Detroit as Eichel is to Buffalo.

Hickey is not getting you a third round pick maybe a 7th but probably not

Ok, but Montour is worth a lot more than just a third round pick. It shouldn’t take very much to get that pick back

Only problem with offersheeting Cirelli, is he has to accept and not sure he want to go from a team that is always in the cup hunt to a team that is well in trouble. Not to be mean but what is going on their.

McCabe and rangers add, or Marcus Davidson, Ryan Johnson, Pekar, Tage Thompson someone like that

All of those prospects are worth more than a third round pick. If the Sabres trade any of them for just a 3rd rounder fans would be pissed.

That’s fair. I imagine the Sabres could make an offer sheet on a number of RFA centers. After we’ve locked in our own RFAs so nobody tries to repay the favor.

Larkin would probably start with Dahlin+. He's not as good as Eichel, but he's not far behind (going to be more in the Zetterberg mold then the Eichel/McDavid mold), plus he's a local DET kid, and the next captain.

If it enables them to make an offer sheet for Cirelli they won't. Tage Thompson is the only one of those prospects to play a minute of pro hockey in NA and it has not gone well for them. The rest have had up and down development and it is yet to be seen if they will ever even reach the NHL
