A Better Team Next Year with some draft lottery luck

Created by: habs12345
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2020
Published: Jul. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I took the Mantha contract from rough numbers I saw on Red Wings posts. Could be higher and have to include 2nd round pick as well in the next bracket.

Assuming we do not win 1st overall in the draft. If we do, then add Alexis Lafreniere on the 2nd line and move Drouin down. Probably don't sign Kovy then

Detroit is barely going to hit the cap floor next season without cap dumps, in what world do they allow an underpay on an offer sheet for their best player????

I would think Larkin is their best player.

I think it's close but I prefer Mantha, especially after this season. When Mantha was healthy, he was far and away their best player this season.

The only player you're not undervaluing is Weal. Domi and Kulak are both worth more then that.

Bergevin’s job is probably in peril if we don’t make the playoffs the next couple seasons, so I, as a Habs fan and a guy who knows what Bergevin will do pretty well, think that we’ll offer sheet either Barzal or Dubois, probably Dubois. We learned our lesson with Aho, not making the same mistake

You can prepare an offersheet all you want, but why would any RFA sign one with Montreal, Unless you are getting into silly money of 4 1st round compensation, which would be reckless by montreal, I dont think you are going to get any high profile RFAs to sign an offersheet on fair or market values

Good Domi trade. Avs would probably accept - so long as Byram and/or Timmins are ready for top 4 next season.
