I mean we are all playing pretend GM here so no big deal but you like this trade and Wild fans don't I mean maybe that just means this trade isn't as fair as you think it is?

Or maybe the Minnesota fan base over values Dumba based on 1 explosive season

Or maybe a top 4 defenseman can and does carry more value than a guy who's ceiling is to be a middle pairing guy?

Example, Shea Weber. His analytics look horrible, even during his prime years, but that doesn't stop him from being considered a top 4 defenseman now does it.

Same for Dumba, so what if professionals ripped on his defense? They ripped on Weber's too, and they still universally consider both to be someone who can play in the top 4.

Montour can't..... He doesn't have that kind of talent.

Think what you will... I never dismissed the analytics. I clearly stated that you can't rely solely on them. The same could be said about dismissing analytics altogether too. You need both to gain the best insight possible.

I also only pointed out that analytics doesn't cover everything and that you should keep that in mind.

You of all people should realize that. Botterill ran the Sabers by a strictly analytical basis and where did that get the team? Where is Botterill now? There's more to hockey than just analytics.

Botterill did not use analytics. He said he wanted to but never fully implemented it. After the ROR trade it seemed as though he was just taking what he could get, kinda like he was getting abused by the league
