I really don’t think the Canucks would except a Dman in a trade unless you’e taking Stecher from them.

I’m not sure why not considering the Canucks have too many forwards and not enough defensemen. This makes perfect sense from a roster balancing point of view

If the Oilers move Russell it’s to clear cap not take on a 13th forward with a higher cap hit and more real cash owed. Easy pass.

That's the type of cap dump move that makes sense for Ottawa. Low risk on a player who can be an effective contributor in the lineup for one year.

Oilers dont wanna be put in more cap problems. The only way to get rid of russel is to not get a player who is a cap waste

Yeah I figured this is a no brainer for Ottawa. Free third rounder pretty much and if baertschi gets back to form with them (career points per shows a 20 goal 20 assist guy over 82 games) then they might be able to flip him at the deadline for a couple more picks.

I like Baertschi a lot on the 3rd line with Brown/Norris and Ryan.

Pretty meh but better than a lot of the other guys edm had in that role this year. Good on draws, good wrist shot, good stick checks. Defensive positioning is fine. Not much on ice vision and below ver age skater. Gets injured a lot.
