bear is probably going to ask for more than that but, I agree with you that the most effective way to gain cap space this offseason is the move out Russel then buyout neal the following year to prevent piling up on dead cap.

Why would they pay for a 4M cap dump when they can get a 1st if the take Loui Eriksson or Boychuk.

I think at a minimum Edmonton pays a 3rd and that's only because the real dollars paid to Russell are less than the cap hit which Melnyk likes.

If that's what it takes then it sounds fair to me.

There will be a cheap owner that will see Russell's 4M cap hit and who is only owed 2M and jump all over that. Russell is easily tradeable without giving up any assets after he is paid his 2M bonus.

Craziness to consider otherwise. His contract is why people wanna move him but in reality his contract in these times will be extremely valueable to cheaper owners looking to save a few bucks. In all honestly don’t blame those owners considering the times and issues
