The Blues laugh and hang up. Then call you right back and hang up again.

Why again is he untouchable? Does he really have close to untouchable status? He seems like he will be a good 2nd liner probably. I would think the Blues make this trade 100 times out of 100. Sanheim i think hasn't even hit his top level yet, as im sure you can say about thomas, but Sanheim i think projects as a top pairing D which don't grow on trees as much as players as Thomas's ilk.

Thomas is probably going to be our 2C next year depending on if Schenn moves over or not. He has legitimate all star potential. I think his floor is Bo Horvat and his ceiling is Nic Backstrom. As for Sanheim, he’d be our 3RD.

Who is your best LD? Just curious.

Thomas had more 5v5 pts than Kuznetsov, Teravainen, both Tkachuks, Marner, PLD, WKarlsson, Kopitar, Forsberg, Gaudreau, Hall, Tavares, ELindholm, Duchene... he scored at a better rate at 5v5 than guys like Couturier, Barzal, and Bergeron. The only think holding him back is usage - playing 3rd line minutes and some PP2 right now.

i'll admit i've not really seen Thomas play much, also didn't realize how few forward prospects and RW in particular you have. I can understand not wanting to move one of your good young forwards for that reason alone.

I'll explain my reasoning a bit for the trade: not sure if any of Pietro, Para, or Faulk play the left side, seems like your LD is a little thin, if not (Sanheim plays at LD, despite what Capfriendly says) . I see Thomas as a younger version of Travis Konecny, if i had to choose between Sanheim and TK, I would keep Sanheim. TK is great, but just not as valuable to the team.

I think you are negating your own argument here. The reason he was able to score so much at 5v5 is that he's not going up against the opposing teams top shutdown lines, like most of the rest of the players listed. I'm pretty sure if Couturier got to go up against the other teams 3rd best lines consistently, he would score at a higher rate. Not to mention his O vs D zone starts are brutal.

It's true, he's been feasting on bottom six players but he's also playing with bottom sixers as linemates. I'm not trying to say that he's better than those guys, just saying there is no reason to trade him when he's still on his ELC and already one of our best forwards and could put up even better numbers with more usage and better linemates.
