I'm guessing Tierney.

1. Why have I never heard of half the players on this team?
2. That center depth is WEAK...Ottawa better hope Byfield is available at 3.

Some really good prospect who played 4 years in college, signed a few years back, he was supposed to be our 2nd pairing dman this year but injured his shoulder and was out for 4 months. Hes 25 but hes really good, he can play the puck, more of a puck moving dman

Wolanin was a 4th round pick in 2015, and is one of Ottawa's better Dmen. Really good skater and a confident puck mover.

He should have played way more in the NHL than he has to this point, but he's gotten pretty unlucky in a couple of ways. In 2018, which was his first full season after turning pro at the end of the previous season, he was the victim of an incompetent coach in Guy Boucher who refused to give him a shot instead going with Max Lajoie who was nowhere near ready. Once Boucher was fired, he was immediately brought up and was instantly the best Dman after Chabot. Only reason he didn't play this season is he separated his shoulder in training camp, then the season got canceled right at he was starting to get back into some NHL games.

He's by no means a star, but he's an effective player who can play with speed and confidence with the puck. He's probably a 4/5 D on a playoff team, but in Ottawa he's probably their 2/3 D depending on how good Brannstrom is out of camp.

Yeah I didn't even look at the contracts lol. He'll probably be getting a raise if he plays the full season, but not to that level lol

It was supposed to $2.5 mil. Erased the 2 instead of the 0 I guess.

Why do you think Tierney would be available? You do realize most of the players of value on this team will be exempt from this expansion draft similar to Toronto's team when Vegas came in. Tierney is one of our best forwards right now like it or not and he will most certainly be protected. The players exposed will be minor league players like an Abramov type guy. Still unfortunate to lose him but won't hurt as much as a Tierney or Methot.

Lajoie was the obvious choice at the time and you can't really blame anyone on that decision. How Lajoie was used, is a different story. It was later in the season when Wolanin was a regular healthy scratch while Ben Harper was playing mid-20 minutes every night because we were playing a "bigger team". Meanwhile while Wolanin was in, he was by far our best defender (Chabby was out at the time).

Lajoie was great for about 7 games where he had an insane scoring streak, but he was absolutely out of his depth. He really had no business in the NHL as a 20/21 year old. He should have been in Belleville.

That's what I'm saying he had an amazing training camp and even better start to the season so having him up was totally justified at the time. They just kept him up way too long let alone giving him the toughest matchups alongside Ceci. Not really a future for him in Ottawa anymore as he can't even crack Belleville's lineup on a regular basis now.
